Andrew Benintendi Sends Red Sox On Road Trip With Walk-Off Win Vs. Phillies

Share this: Andrew Benintendi gave the Boston Red Sox a sweet ending to a short homestand. The young left fielder tallied his first career walk-off hit during the Red Sox’s 4-3 win in 12 innings over the Philadelphia Phillies at Fenway Park on Tuesday night. Benintendi ripped a laser over the head of right fielder Aaron Altherr to score Xander Bogaerts and send the Fenway Faithful into a frenzy. The Red Sox will head to Philadelphia for two more against the Phillies before moving on to the Houston to face the Astros, and finishing the trip in Kansas City against the Royals. Red Sox Wrap: Andrew Benintendi’s Heroics Lift Boston To 12-Inning Win

Nine innings once again weren’t enough for the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies. The two squads went into extra innings for the second straight night at Fenway Park, and Boston took home the 4-3 win in 12 innings Tuesday night on an Andrew Benintendi walk-off single. Benintendi drove in Xander Bogaerts on the play. With the win, the Sox improved to 36-28, while the Phillies dropped to 21-42. Here’s how it all went down. GAME IN A WORDClose. The Red Sox and Phillies were locked in a tight contest throughout the night, and it all came down to extra innings. IT WAS OVER WHEN…NESN.com

Red Sox Notes: Short Outings Becoming Common Occurrence For Drew Pomeranz

Share this: The hope for a starting pitcher is to go deep into a ballgame and put your team in good position to win. Unfortunately for the Boston Red Sox, Drew Pomeranz hasn’t able to do that very often in the 2017 season. Pomeranz struggled through another short outing Friday night in the Red Sox’s 8-3 loss to the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park. The left-hander only lasted 4 1/3 innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits with two walks. Since Boston traded for Pomeranz at the MLB All-Star break last season, the 28-year-old hasn’t been much of an innings eater. The lefty employs a rather slow pace on the mound and often tries to dance around the strike zone with off-speed pitches

Red Sox Wrap: Boston Obliterates Tigers’ Bullpen In 11-3 Win At Fenway Park

Share this: For the second night in a row, the Boston Red Sox tortured the Detroit Tigers’ bullpen. The two teams were tied in the bottom of the seventh Saturday night when Mitch Moreland laced a two-run double over Justin Upton’s head to give Boston the lead. But that was just the beginning of Detroit’s nightmare. All in all, the Red Sox scored eight runs in the final two innings against the Tigers’ bullpen en route to an 11-3 victory at Fenway Park. Moreland (three RBIs) and the Red Sox’s offense backed ace Chris Sale, who tossed seven solid innings and earned the victory against Justin Verlander and the Tigers. The Red Sox improved to 34-27, while the Tigers fell to 29-32. Here’s how it all

Mitch Moreland Praises Red Sox For Grinding Out At-Bats In Friday’s Win

Share this: It wasn’t easy, but the Boston Red Sox picked up a 5-3 comeback victory over the Detroit Tigers on Friday night at Fenway Park. While Jackie Bradley Jr played the role of hero with his go-ahead home run, Mitch Moreland also had a fine night at the plate for the Red Sox. The first baseman went 3-for-4 with a home run and a double, as well as a game-tying RBI single in the eighth inning. After the game, Moreland praised his teammates for grinding out at-bats and creating opportunities, which helped lead Boston to a victory. Red Sox Notes: David Price Says Media Comments Didn’t Impact Outing Vs. Yankees

Share this: All eyes were on David Price when he took the mound Thursday night to face the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. The Boston Red Sox starter made headlines Wednesday, lashing out at the local media and announcing he’d only speak on days he pitched. And in Price’s first outing since his comments, he didn’t pitch very well. The left-hander struggled through five innings, allowing six runs on eight hits with four walks in Boston’s 9-1 loss to the Yankees. Price didn’t have his best stuff by any means Thursday night, but he insists Wednesday’s incident had nothing to do with it. “Absolutely not,” Price said when asked if there was a lingering impact, as seen on NESN’s Red Sox postgame coverage. “It was

Yankees Troll Red Sox With Clever Tweet After Pair Of Convincing Wins

Share this: The New York Yankees took it to the Boston Red Sox in the final two games of their three-game series, and they decided to poke fun at their American League East rival afterward. After the Red Sox took the series opener 5-4 on Tuesday, the Yankees throttled Boston in the next two contests by a combined score of 17-1, including Thursday’s 9-1 rout. And following the series-clinching win, the Yankees fired off a pretty clever tweet in a well-executed troll effort. The tweet, of course, is a play on the Red Sox’s “Win, Dance, Repeat” slogan following Boston victories. Unfortunately for the Sox, they only got to show off their dance moves one time in their first trip to Yankee Stadium this season. Boston
