Kyrie Irving can’t do it all by himself. The Boston Celtics have been struggling since getting back from London, dropping their fourth consecutive game in a 108-107 loss to the Lonzo Ball-less Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night. Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving’s candidacy for NBA MVP was bolstered during Thursday night’s ugly offensive performance by the C’s in an 89-80 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers at TD Garden. Without Irving, who sat out because of a shoulder injury, the C’s shot just 41.1 percent from the floor, hit only seven of 29 3-point shots, generated 13 points in the second quarter and scored a season-low 53 points through three quarters. It has been quite a while since Anton Khudobin has recorded a shutout in an NHL game, but he snapped the years-long drought on Tuesday night as he turned away 36 shots for the Boston Bruins in their 3-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center. It was the backup netminder’s first shutout since Nov. 7, 2015. Jake DeBrusk provided the winning goal for the Bruins in the second period. The Boston Celtics dug themselves too deep of a hole Wednesday night in Miami, and despite a valiant effort late in the fourth quarter, they couldn’t extend their win streak to 17 games after a 104-98 loss to the Heat. Boston had overcome deficits of 10 or more in three straight games entering Wednesday.
