Celtics Wrap: Boston Mounts Furious Fourth-Quarter Comeback To Win 99-93

They say basketball is a game of runs. But a 19-0 run? Now that’s something you don’t see everyday in the NBA. But that one stretch proved to be the difference Monday night between the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves. After falling behind by double digits, the C’s mounted a furious 19-0 comeback, starting with Al Horford’s jumper at the end of the third quarter. Boston then scored the first 17 points of the fourth to take back the lead and eventually win 99-93. Isaiah Thomas led the Celtics with 29 points. Al Horford (20 points), Avery Bradley (13) and Terry Rozier (12) also finished in double figures. Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns ... NESN.com

Red Sox Notes: Four-Game Sweep Of Yankees Gives Boston Momentum In Division Race

BOSTON — The Red Sox are clicking at the perfect time. After completing a four-game sweep of the New York Yankees with a 5-4 win Sunday, the Red Sox have a stronger hold on first place in the American League East. They’re three games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles and four games ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays, and it’s greatly improved the mood in the clubhouse. “Four game series are difficult,” Red Sox manager John Farrell said after Sunday’s win. “To take all four and three of them in comeback fashion, that says so much about that team down in the clubhouse. There’s never any feeling of we’re out of it. There’s never

Deutsche Bank Championship Notes: Hermine Impacts Play At TPC Boston

NORTON, Mass. — It wasn’t exactly hurricane-like conditions at TPC Boston, but it certainly wasn’t ideal weather for golf. The remnants of Hurricane Hermine didn’t bring any rain during Monday’s final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship, but a light rain probably would have been preferable for some golfers than the strong gusts of wind. “I thought it blew really hard,” Jimmy Walker (12-under-par) said. “It was very playable early and then it seemed like about No. 9 for us it really started to kick up. And then the back nine was pretty brutal.” He added: “(The wind was) swirling and heavy. It was heavy, heavy, really gusty.... NESN.com

Red Sox Notes: Boston Pulls Into First-Place Tie With Blue Jays After Rout Of A’s

The Boston Red Sox demolished the Oakland Athletics on Saturday, and it earned them a share of first place in the American League East. The Toronto Blue Jays lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 7-5 while the Red Sox cruised to their third straight win in an 11-2 drubbing of the A’s. So, at 76-59, the Red Sox and Jays sit dead-even atop the AL East with the Baltimore Orioles knocking on the back door just two games behind. However, the Red Sox don’t want to celebrate just yet. The Major League Baseball schedule typically loads teams up with division games in September, and that’s no different in 2016. The Red Sox —
