The Boston Bruins long have had high hopes for Brandon Carlo, and he’s beginning to live up to some of those expectations. In his third pro season, the 22-year-old is beginning to grow into a shutdown defenseman. That was never more evident than in the Bruins’ 6-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday. Whether it was checks that he made or his decision-making, some of his signs of growth were apparent. MLB Rumors: Reds Agree To Trade Brandon Phillips To Braves; Return ‘Minimal’
Brandon Phillips appears to be packing his bags after more than a decade in Cincinnati. The Reds have agreed to trade their longtime second baseman to the Atlanta Braves, ESPN.com’s Buster Olney reported Sunday, citing a source. It’s unclear what Cincinnati will acquire in return, but FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal doesn’t expect it to be much. Rosenthal was the first to report the teams were close to a deal for Phillips, which is expected to be finalized Monday, per Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. Phillips was a staple of the Reds’ infield for 11 seasons, earning three All-Star nods over that span as one of Cincinnati’s most dependable ... NESN.com
Brandon Marshall Reportedly Ticked Off Jets Teammates With Halftime Rant
The New York Jets weren’t really in the holiday spirit Saturday. Not only did the team get blown out by the New England Patriots 41-3 on Christmas Eve at Gillette Stadium. But some Jets players were irked by a fiery speech given by wide receiver Brandon Marshall at halftime with New York trailing 27-0, team sources told ESPN.com’s Rich Cimini. Marshall told ESPN.com on Wednesday that his objective was to fire up his Jets teammates. The outburst seemingly had the opposite effect, though, as the speech reportedly might have raised tensions in the Jets’ locker room. “We were getting our butts kicked, and I was trying to get guys to respond, ... Brandon Marshall Issues Crazy, Car-Inspired Challenge To Antonio Brown
Share this: Brandon Marshall is ready to put his wheels on the line. Marshall issued a bold challenge to Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown via Instagram on Wednesday. The New York Jets wideout is so confident he’ll have more receiving yards than Brown this season that he’s willing to gamble his Porsche for Brown’s Rolls-Royce. One has to think Marshall already caught wind of Ryan Fitzpatrick re-signing with the Jets before posting the video, otherwise he’d be banking on establishing a good enough rapport with Geno Smith, Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg. That’s a dangerous roll of the dice. But even with Fitzpatrick at the helm, Marshall is taking a huge risk, assuming the bet is legitimate, albeit playful. The 32-year-old had 1,502
Ex-Patriot Brandon Browner Agrees To Terms To Return To Seahawks
The Legion of Boom will reunite in 2016. Cornerback Brandon Browner has agreed to terms to return to the Seattle Seahawks, the team announced Sunday. Browner, fellow cornerback Richard Sherman and safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor made up the Legion of Boom. Sherman, Thomas and Chancellor remain with the Seahawks. Browner, 31, beat the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX as a member of the New England Patriots in 2014. He played on the New Orleans Saints in 2015. He led the NFL in total penalties in each of his past two seasons. Thumbnail photo via Winslo...
Brandon Spikes’ Maybach Sustained Significant Damage In Crash (Photos)
It seems as though Brandon Spikes is in some very hot water. The New England Patriots released the linebacker Monday after a 2011 Mercedes-Benz Maybach registered in his name was found abandoned and damaged on I-495 in Foxboro, Mass., around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday. An OnStar representative reportedly told Massachusetts State police that the driver reported hitting a deer, but shortly after, the passengers of a nearby 2009 Nissan Murano reported being hit by a car they had not seen. The Murano’s three passengers — a 51-year-old man, 32-year-old woman and 12-year-old boy — suffered only minor injuries, and an investigation into the hit-and-run is ongoing.
Brandon Browner Gets In Richard Sherman’s Face After Super Bowl-Clinching Play
GLENDALE, Ariz. — Emotions were running high for Brandon Browner after the New England Patriots beat his former team, the Seattle Seahawks, in Super Bowl XLIX. Browner had to sit out last year’s Seahawks win because of an indefinite suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, so this year’s 28-24 Patriots victory was extra sweet. The veteran cornerback made headlines during Super Bowl week by saying that his Patriots teammates should try to further injure Seahawks defensive backs — and Browner’s good friends — Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas. They all shrugged off the comments, but after the game, it appeare...
