It was a superb Wednesday for Blake Swihart. The Red Sox catcher celebrated his 27th birthday in an enormous means, going 3-for-Four with a solo house run in Boston’s 6-Three win over the Oakland Athletics at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. Swihart’s three hits led the workforce and likewise accounted for 2 runs. “I felt good at the plate,” Swihart instructed NESN’s Guerin Austin, as seen on “NESN Sports Today.” “I was just trying to put some good swings on the ball and things worked out for me.” But it wasn’t all that simple for the 27-year-old. Swihart sailed a throw previous second base on a Marcus Semien steal. The error virtually was expensive, as

Red Sox Vs. Astros Lineup: Brock Holt, Steve Pearce Start In Game 1
The Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros will do battle in Game 1 of the American League Champion Series on Saturday night at Fenway Park. The Astros made quick work of the Cleveland Indians with a three-game sweep in their AL Division Series, while it took the Red Sox one extra contest to dispatch the New York Yankees in the other ALDS. Boston will give the ball to Chris Sale, who made a surprise appearance out of the bullpen in the clinching Game 4 against the Bronx Bombers. The left-hander did earn a win as a starter against New York in Game 1, much like the Astros’ series-opening starter Justin Verlander, who notched
Nathan Eovaldi, Brock Holt ‘Confident’ As Red Sox’s Playoff Run Approaches
The Boston Red Sox’s march to the World Series is about to begin. Boston will finish its regular season Sunday against the New York Yankees and then will prepare to face the winner of the American League Wild Card Game in the American League Division Series. Despite suffering an 8-5 loss Saturday at Fenway Park, the Red Sox got a solid outing from right-hander Nathan Eovaldi who appears to be the favorite for the No. 4 starter role in the playoffs. Utility-man Brock Holt also continued his recent hot streak by cranking a two-run blast late in the contest. After the game, both players noted they feel “confident” and are in a
Brock Holt, Red Sox ‘Never Quit’ In 19-12 Comeback Win Vs. Orioles
These Boston Red Sox never say die, and that never was more apparent than in Friday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles. Boston fell into an early 8-3 hole, but the Sox battled back to take the lead. The Red Sox score six runs in the sixth, three in the seventh and five in the eighth to beat the O’s 19-12. After the game, NESN’s Guerin Austin caught up with Brock Holt and the second baseman praised his team’s “never quit” attitude even when they find themselves down early. To hear from Holt, check out the “Red Sox Extra Innings Live” video above, presented
Brock Holt Already Feeling Better After Suffering Knee Contusion Vs.Tigers
Brock Holt left Friday’s game against the Detroit Tigers after suffering a right knee contusion during the fourth inning. After David Price got John Hicks to line out to left with the bases loaded, left fielder Andrew Benintendi uncorked a wild throw that sailed to the backstop, setting off a wild sequence. Price retrieved the ball and had Jeimer Candelario hung up between second and third. Candelario raced back to second and Price fired a throw to double him off. The throw brought Holt in front of the base and Candelario’s foot caught the second baseman’s knee while sliding back into the base. Holt was removed from the game and isn’t in the
Brock Lesnar Destroys Conor McGregor In Amazing Expletive-Filled Rant
Share this: Brock Lesnar has had enough of Conor McGregor. “The Notorious” is known for his controversial comments, but he might have taken things a little too far recently if you ask “The Beast Incarnate.” McGregor recently had some things to say about Lesnar during a conference call prior to his big UFC 202 fight against Nate Diaz, and he even went as far as to say this: “Fair play to Brock, he got in a fight (in UFC). But at the end of the day, he’s juiced up to the (expletive) eyeballs, so how can I respect that?” So what does Lesnar think of this? Well, luckily Sam Roberts found out for us in a pre-SummerSlam interview, which you can read and watch below. But it
Red Sox Notes: Brock Holt, Unfazed By Tough Situation, Comes Up Clutch
Share this: Nobody likes getting pushed out of the starting nine, especially when a 22-year-old rookie is involved in their demotion. But Brock Holt knows what it’s like to bounce around a big league lineup, and his steady mindset helped the Boston Red Sox earn a win Thursday night. Holt, who has spent most of 2016 when healthy as the team’s starting left fielder, appears to be returning to his role as a “super utility” player with outfielder Andrew Benintendi recently getting the call to the majors. That meant Holt wasn’t in the starting lineup Thursday against the Seattle Mariners, but he replaced Bryce Brentz as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning — and made the most of his opportunity. After a Travis Shaw single and
