Bruins Extend Winning Streak To Four Games With Win Over Panthers

The Boston Bruins continued their recent hot streak with a 5-2 victory over the Florida Panthers on Saturday at TD Garden. The Bruins have responded nicely from their four-game losing streak in mid-March by putting together a four-game winning streak to vault them back into the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Boston didn’t play their best hockey Saturday, but it will take the two points and head to Chicago for a Sunday afternoon tilt with the Blackhawks. The Calgary Flames entered Wednesday night riding a 10-game winning streak, but all good things must come to an end. The Boston Bruins put an end to the Flames’ winning ways with an impressive 5-2 victory. Boston’s offense turned in a terrific performance, as it received goals from three different lines. David Pastrnak opened the scoring for Boston, followed by tallies from Brad Marchand, David Backes and Matt Beleskey. Goaltender Anton Khudobin was solid in relief of Tuukka Rask, as he turned away 21  of  23 Flames shot attempts. The B’s won their third consecutive game Sunday night with a convincing 4-0 victory over the Montreal Canadiens at TD Garden. Boston now is 3-0-0 since Cassidy was named interim bench boss on Tuesday. The Bruins are tied with the Ottawa Senators for second place in the Atlantic Division, although the Original Six club has played five more games than the Sens.
