Bruins’ Ill-Timed Bout Of Goal-Scoring Frustration Hits Peak Vs. Devils

by Zack Cox on Tue, Mar 29, 2016 at 10:46PM 1,612 During the most important seven-game stretch of their 2015-16 schedule to date, the Boston Bruins have managed a grand total of 10 goals. Take away one empty-netter, and that total drops to nine. It’s no wonder, then, that the Bruins have been able to win just one of those games, turning what should have been a relatively pain-free path to the postseason into an all-out brawl. At no point have those goal-scoring woes been more pronounce...

by Zack Cox on Mon, Mar 28, 2016 at 11:31AM 1,059 WILMINGTON, Mass. — The Bruins were down a pair of top-nine forwards Monday morning as they returned to practice at Ristuccia Arena. Top-line winger Brad Marchand and third-line center Ryan Spooner both did not participate in the session, which came two days after Boston’s 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Spooner played in that game but missed the entirety of the third period with an undisclosed injury. Marchand logged 19:51 of i...

Bruins’ Strong Response Not Enough To Erase Slow Start In Loss To Kings

by Zack Cox on Sun, Mar 20, 2016 at 2:08AM 351 “Playing a 60-minute game” is such a common hockey cliche for a reason, the Boston Bruins showed it Saturday night. Boston saved perhaps the best two periods of its California road trip for last, but they were not enough to make up for the inauspicious start to Saturday night’s 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center. The Kings nearly tripled up the Bruins in shots on net in the first 20 minut...

Tuukka Rask was doing Tuukka Rask things Saturday at TD Garden, saving 25 of 26 shots in the Boston Bruins’ 3-1 victory over the New York Islanders. One particular save against Islanders star John Tavares stood out, though, and it earned Rask DCU Save of the Game honors. Check out the play in the video above. Thumbnail photo via Greg M. Jonas Gustavsson’s Career Night, Incredible Stops Save Bruins In Tampa (Video)

Jonas Gustavsson made a career-high 42 saves Tuesday night in Tampa Bay, and it took every single one of them for the Boston Bruins to come away with a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory against the Lightning. One save in the second period stood out, though, earning Gustavsson DCU Save of the Game honors. Check out the highlight play in the video above. Boston’s seven selections were tied with the Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings for third-most in the NHL.
