Bruins Notes: Colin Miller Lets It Rip; Torey Krug Hopes To Be Longtime Bruin

by Zack Cox on Fri, Jan 8, 2016 at 10:36PM 1,713 The Boston Bruins earned a much-needed victory in their first visit to the Garden State this season, breezing past the injury-ravaged New Jersey Devils 4-1 on Friday night. The game carried playoff implications — New Jersey held the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference entering Friday; Boston owned the second — and kicked off a five-game road trip for the Bruins, who will play 13 of their next 20 games away from TD Garden. Braden Holtby Kicks Puck Out Of Danger In Capitals’ Win Vs. Bruins (Video)

The Bruins had their chances against the Capitals on Tuesday night, but Washington goalie Braden Holtby came up with multiple timely saves to stymie Boston. Holtby finished with 22 saves in the Capital’s 3-2 win over the Bruins, but it could have been a different game if Holtby didn’t kick a puck out of danger early on. Bruins’ Loui Eriksson Should Remain On Line With Carl Soderberg, Chris Kelly

BOSTON — Loui Eriksson was the top candidate to replace Jarome Iginla at right wing on the Bruins’ first line to start the season, but that plan was put on hold when veteran center David Krejci was forced to miss 20 of the first 31 games because of an injury. Even though Eriksson has played well in the limited time he’s skated alongside Krejci and Milan Lucic since joining the Bruins before the 2013-14 campaign, the best place for him is with Carl Soderberg and Chris Kelly on the third line. Soderberg and Kelly have been Eriksson’s linemates for most of the season, and it’s obvious that they have developed impressive chemistry, specifically Soderberg and Eriksson. As

VIDEO: Patrice Bergeron Scores Bruins’ 1st Goal of Game 3 On Beautiful Tip

The Bruins nearly went into the second intermission down 3-0 in Tuesday night’s Game 3 of the conference semifinals against the Montreal Canadiens. Patrice Bergeron scored at 17:48 of the second period to get the Bruins on the scoreboard and trim the Canadiens’ advantage to 3-1. After winning an offensive-zone faceoff, Bergeron went to the net and deflected a shot from the point by Torey Krug with a perfect tip. It’s Bergeron’s second goal of the series and third of the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs. Check out the goal in the video below.

Bruins’ Confidence in Young Defensemen Paying Off, Trio All Factoring Into Score Sheet (Video)

The Bruins’ defense played a big role in their 5-2 win on Sunday over the New York Rangers. Torey Krug and Johnny Boychuck each netted goals, and Matt Bartkowski and Dougie Hamilton were both credited with assists. Though they may be young, Krug, Bartkowski and Hamilton have proved themselves worthy of head coach Claude Julien‘s confidence moving forward in the series. Julien said he has encouraged the young players to continue doing the things they know they do well in order to continue making an impact. Tale of Bruins’ Struggles Starting to Sound Like Broken Record After ‘Saturday Snoozer’ Loss to Flyers (Video)

The Bruins moved one game closer to the end of March on Saturday, and that’s all that can really be said about the team’s performance. The sooner the B’s can get past this month, it seems, the better. Boston’s tough schedule seems to still be sapping the team of its potential, as another slow start ultimately doomed the B’s. Philadelphia, on the other hand, showed little difficulty in setting the tone early during this afternoon game, thanks in large part to Mike Knuble‘s early goal. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is awarding Knuble our “Saturday Snoozer” player of the game. Who’s yours? Take Our Poll Join NESN Nation: In-game home page | Twitter | Facebook

Tyler Seguin Answers Bruins Fans’ Questions and Reveals Shootout Technique, Music Tastes, Other Fun Facts

The beauty of Twitter is the ability to interact with athletes on a more personal level. Tyler Seguin took some time to answer questions submitted via Twitter on NESN Daily. Questions ranged from Seguin's taste in pregame music, which player not on the Bruins he'd most like to play with and what his technique is when going into a shootout. Oh yeah, there were even a few marriage proposals in between. Then again, when you're on the current tear that he's on, that shouldn't come as much of a surprise. To hear Seguin's reponses to these questions and more, check out the video above.
