Why Bruce Cassidy Apologized To Charlie Coyle Amid Bruins’ Point Streak

BOSTON — If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The fourth line has played a key role in the Boston Bruins’ 18-game point streak. Aside from providing a handful of timely goals and a level of grit, the line has gotten the start in the bulk of the contests in the past month-plus, allowing Boston to set the tone from the get-go. The tactical decision, however, prevented what could have been a pretty sentimental moment for one of the newest Bruins. Charlie Coyle’s second game with the Bruins surely was an emotional one, as it marked the first home game at TD Garden for the Weymouth, Mass., native. While the situation called for

Bruce Cassidy Happy Chris Wagner Has Become ‘Valuable Player’ For Bruins

Chris Wagner had four shots on goal Tuesday night for the Boston Bruins, but none more important than the one at the 12:28 mark of the second period. The winger got his team on the board and cut the Carolina Hurricanes’ lead in half when he put Brandon Carlo’s rebound past Curtis McElhinney in the B’s 4-3 overtime win at TD Garden. After the game, head coach Bruce Cassidy praised Wagner, noting he’s become a “real valuable player” to the team. Bruins’ Brandon Carlo, Bruce Cassidy Praise Brad Marchand’s Offense

From his dominance on the Boston Bruins’ top line to making opponents look silly before netting a goal, Brad Marchand certainly has become one of the NHL’s elite players. His skills were particularly apparent against the San Jose Sharks in Boston’s 4-1 win Feb. 26 when Marchand absolutely undressed Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson before he backhanded the puck into the net. It was a slick move to get Karlsson’s stick out of the way so Marchand could get the puck, and his offensive skills have earned him praise from his teammates and coach. “When he knocks it out of the way, it pretty much makes it impossible for you to win that battle,”

Bruins Focus: Hurricanes, Penguins Highlight Boston’s Four-Game Week

The Boston Bruins are showing no signs of slowing down after going 3-0-0 in their last week of games. Boston defeated the San Jose Sharks, New Jersey Devils and the NHL-leading Tampa Bay Lightning to remain in second place in the Atlantic Division. The B’s will look to widen the gap over the third-place Toronto Maple Leafs in their upcoming week with games against the Pittsburgh Penguins and surging Carolina Hurricanes. The Bruins finished off the month of February with a 11-0-2 record and hope to carry that momentum into March, which began with a 1-0 win over the Devils on home ice. Let’s take a look at the upcoming week: Tues... NESN.com

Sharks’ Evander Kane Calls Bruins’ Zdeno Chara’s Hit ‘Classic Headshot’

Sharks’ Evander Kane Calls Bruins’ Zdeno Chara’s Hit ‘Classic Headshot’

BOSTON — Evander Kane is less than thrilled about what happened during the third period Tuesday night. In the opening minutes of the final frame of the Boston Bruins’ eventual 4-1 thumping of the San Jose Sharks, Kane and Zdeno Chara dropped the gloves after the 6-foot-9 defenseman laid a hit the Sharks winger didn’t take kindly to. The linesmen gave Kane a game misconduct, fighting major and an instigating penalty, which ended his night. While Chara’s teammates compared him to Thanos and noted he’s not one to really get challenged, Kane certainly was not happy with how everything went down. “It was a hit right to my face, head, whate... David Pastrnak Injury: Bruins Offer Discouraging Update On Star Winger

David Pastrnak Injury: Bruins Offer Discouraging Update On Star Winger

David Pastrnak is on the mend, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll return to game action anytime soon. The Boston Bruins winger has been on the shelf since having surgery to repair a thumb injury suffered Feb. 11 after a team sponsorship event. When first announcing the injury, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney said Pastrnak would be reevaluated in “two weeks.” Well, the two-week mark has arrived, and here’s the latest on Pastrnak: Pastrnak did return to the ice Monday, though he still isn’t ready to hold a stick. Although it’s good news that doctors feel “great” about Pastrnak’s recovery, it’s hard to not feel worried... NESN.com
