Brandon Carlo’s function within the Boston Bruins’ defensive corps has elevated with every season that he has been within the National Hockey League. And consider it or not, Carlo simply wrapped up his third, and by far most profitable, full season with the big-league workforce. What could also be even tougher to consider than the 22-year-old already being a three-year professional is that Carlo has not performed in a single playoff recreation. Injuries have held the d-man out within the earlier two seasons. This 12 months, there aren't any such illnesses to carry him out, and he ought to consider as a key piece of the top-Four on the again finish. From his dominance on the Boston Bruins’ top line to making opponents look silly before netting a goal, Brad Marchand certainly has become one of the NHL’s elite players. His skills were particularly apparent against the San Jose Sharks in Boston’s 4-1 win Feb. 26 when Marchand absolutely undressed Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson before he backhanded the puck into the net. It was a slick move to get Karlsson’s stick out of the way so Marchand could get the puck, and his offensive skills have earned him praise from his teammates and coach. “When he knocks it out of the way, it pretty much makes it impossible for you to win that battle,”
Bruins’ Brandon Carlo Growing Into Shutdown Defenseman In Third Season
The Boston Bruins long have had high hopes for Brandon Carlo, and he’s beginning to live up to some of those expectations. In his third pro season, the 22-year-old is beginning to grow into a shutdown defenseman. That was never more evident than in the Bruins’ 6-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday. Whether it was checks that he made or his decision-making, some of his signs of growth were apparent.
