Celtics Notes: Boston Needs To Find Scoring Help For Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving can’t do it all by himself. The Boston Celtics have been struggling since getting back from London, dropping their fourth consecutive game in a 108-107 loss to the Lonzo Ball-less Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night. Irving did everything he could at Staples Center, scoring 33 points on 13-for-24 shooting while recording a team-high plus-16. The star point guard only spent 9:36 seconds on the bench, but the Celtics were outscored by 17 points in that time period, leading to the one-point loss. Boston’s offensive limitations have been on full display during its recent four-game losing streak. Irving has tallied 27, 40 a... NESN.com

Celtics Notes: Kyrie Irving Sorely Missed; Joel Embiid Dominates Boston Big Men

Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving’s candidacy for NBA MVP was bolstered during Thursday night’s ugly offensive performance by the C’s in an 89-80 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers at TD Garden. Without Irving, who sat out because of a shoulder injury, the C’s shot just 41.1 percent from the floor, hit only seven of 29 3-point shots, generated 13 points in the second quarter and scored a season-low 53 points through three quarters. In addition to poor shooting, the C’s also were sloppy with the basketball. They committed 19 turnovers and had just 13 assists on 30 made shots. Irving is the team’s leading scorer with 23.6 points per game,... NESN.com

Cavs’ Isaiah Thomas Opens Up About Injury, Trade From Celtics In ESPN Interview

Isaiah Thomas soon will return to the NBA court bearing that familiar chip on his shoulder. As he nears his comeback from a long-term hip injury, the Cleveland Cavaliers guard gave a candid interview Tuesday with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, in which he vowed to silence doubters and earn the lucrative contract he wants. Thomas also revealed the extent of the grudge he still bears against the Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge for sending him to the Cavs last summer in a blockbuster trade for Kyrie Irving. Bah Humbug: Celtics’ Kyrie Irving Doesn’t View Christmas As Holiday

Bah Humbug: Celtics’ Kyrie Irving Doesn’t View Christmas As Holiday

Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics will be spending their Christmas Day squaring off with the Washington Wizards at TD Garden, but the star point guard isn’t too broken up about working on the holiday because, well, he doesn’t view it as one. Irving, who made waves last season when he stated he believes the Earth is flat, was asked about his views on Christmas and what his plans were for Dec. 25 following the Celtics’ 102-93 loss to the New York Knicks on Thursday, and his answer was classic Irving. Here’s the video, courtesy of The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn: This undoubtedly will get a lot of social media traction, much like the

Celtics Notes: Heat End Historic Boston Win Streak; Jayson Tatum Impresses

The Boston Celtics dug themselves too deep of a hole Wednesday night in Miami, and despite a valiant effort late in the fourth quarter, they couldn’t extend their win streak to 17 games after a 104-98 loss to the Heat. Boston had overcome deficits of 10 or more in three straight games entering Wednesday. The C’s clawed back from deficits of 18 (twice), 17, 16 and 13 during the win streak, but Heat guards Goran Dragic and Dion Waiters, who combined for 53 points, were too much to handle late in the game. The 16-game win streak is tied for the fourth-longest in team history. It included a nine-game road win streak (fifth-longest in franchise

Isaiah Thomas Admits Cavs Vs. Celtics Eastern Conference Finals ‘Would Be Lovely’

Cleveland Cavaliers guard and former Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas has yet to play in a game this season, but he’s already looking toward the Eastern Conference finals. Thomas was asked recently during an interview with USA TODAY’s Sam Amick if having to get to the NBA Finals by way of beating the Celtics was ideal, and he seems to be on-board with the idea of a Boston-Cleveland showdown. “Oh, that would be lovely,” Thomas told Amick. “That would be the story that God made, and it probably will work that way. It always does. It always works — I’m not going to say in my favor, but it seems to always work out no

Celtics Wrap: Boston Erases 17-Point Deficit To Shock Warriors 92-88

The matchup of the NBA’s future lived up to the hype. The Boston Celtics went toe-to-toe with the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics on Thursday night at TD Garden and came out on top with a 92-88 win. Boston trailed by more than 15 points on multiple occasions, but the C’s continued to battle throughout and were tied with 20.2 seconds remaining in the game. Kyrie Irving crossed up Draymond Green and drew a foul on Kevin Durant with 14 seconds to play. The C’s star hit both free throws to give Boston a two-point lead. Durant missed a jumper to tie the game on the other end, and the Celtics secured the rebound to
