BOSTON — Evander Kane is less than thrilled about what happened during the third period Tuesday night. In the opening minutes of the final frame of the Boston Bruins’ eventual 4-1 thumping of the San Jose Sharks, Kane and Zdeno Chara dropped the gloves after the 6-foot-9 defenseman laid a hit the Sharks winger didn’t take kindly to. Don Sweeney Sheds Light On Bruins’ Decision To Extend Zdeno Chara’s Contract
Zdeno Chara will be a Boston Bruin for another year, as the Bruins signed the veteran to a one-year contract extension Wednesday afternoon. Chara has been in the NHL for 20 years and with the Bruins since the 2006-07 season. The 41-year-old defenseman has had a brilliant season with the B’s. He’s proved he’s still a top-tier defenseman while helping bring along the team’s young defensemen. Zdeno Chara’s Quick Thinking Saves Potential Goal In Win Over Red Wings
With the game tied in the second period and the Detroit Red Wings threatening, Zdeno Chara came up with a huge save for the Boston Bruins in their 3-1 win at TD Garden on Saturday. Off a shot in front of the net, the puck slowly trickled past goaltender Tuukka Rask, and Chara, who was at the top of the crease, saw the puck and swatted it away before it could cross the goal line.
