Bruins Focused On Divisional Tilt With Sabres Ahead Of Winter Classic

Before turning their attention to the Winter Classic, the Boston Bruins have a very important Atlantic Division matchup against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night at KeyBank Center. The Bruins sit fourth in the division standings, three points behind the third-place Sabres. Buffalo topped the Bruins 4-2 on Dec. 16 in Boston, using a three-goal third period to steal one away from the B’s. With a potent offense led by Jack Eichel and Jeff Skinner, the Sabres are not a team the Bruins can look past, despite the bright lights of Notre Dame Stadium on New Years Day beckoning. To hear from the Bruins ahead of Saturday’s matchup against the Sabres... NESN.com

David Backes To Have Hearing For High Hit Putting His Winter Classic In Jeopardy

The Boston Bruins might once again be down a veteran in the Winter Classic. B’s forward David Backes will have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for a high hit on New Jersey Devils forward Blake Coleman, the league announced Friday. Backes earned a minor penalty for an illegal check to the head with two minutes to go in Thursday night’s loss at TD Garden. Backes caught Coleman with a shoulder/elbow to the head, as the New Jersey forward attempted to clear the puck from the Devils zone. The B’s veteran does have a history with Player Safety after a three-game suspension last season for a hit on Red Wings

Barrett-Jackson Northeast: Classic Cars To Look Out For At Mohegan Sun

Barrett-Jackson Northeast: Classic Cars To Look Out For At Mohegan Sun

When car enthusiasts arrive in Connecticut on Wednesday for Barrett-Jackson Northeast, they’ll be like kids in candy stores. Deciding which classic cars to focus on at Mohegan Sun will be tough, but we’re here to help. It’s one thing for a car to be old, but that alone doesn’t make it classic. If you ask us, cars also have to have something that sets them apart — something that makes them cool. Cars such as the 2002 Lamborghini Mercialago and the 1984 Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 prototype certainly fit that bill, but they’re not alone. NESN Fuel’s Rachel Holt recently talked with Craig Fitzgerald from BestRide.com to preview five cool classic c... NESN.com

Ian Kinsler Clarifies Comments On Latinos’ Style At World Baseball Classic

Ian Kinsler Clarifies Comments On Latinos’ Style At World Baseball Classic

Ian Kinsler didn’t exactly mean what he said about Latino baseball players. The United States second baseman sought to clarify the controversial comments he made prior to Wednesday’s USA vs. Puerto Rico 2017 World Baseball Classic final about the differences between how Latin American and mainland U.S.-born players play the sport. Following USA’s 8-0 win in the final, Kinsler explained to ESPN what he meant to say. “What I said was that American kids can watch American players play, Puerto Rican kids can watch Puerto Rican players play, Venezuelan kids can watch Venezuelan guys play, and that’s who they emulate,” Kinsler said. “That’... If You’re Not Watching World Baseball Classic, What Are You Waiting For?

If You’re Not Watching World Baseball Classic, What Are You Waiting For?

The World Baseball Classic isn’t perfect — far from it, actually. But that doesn’t mean it’s not worth watching. The WBC has its issues. The timing of the tournament itself isn’t ideal. It’s hard to expect the highest quality of baseball when a good chunk of the world’s best baseball players are focused on preparing for the Major League Baseball season. That’s their prerogative, especially when you’re trying to have a “meaningful” tournament smack dab in the middle of spring training. You’re never going to be able to convince the game’s biggest stars to participate in a preseason tournament. There’s risk of injury, especially so ... NESN.com

David Ortiz Reportedly Hasn’t Expressed Interest In World Baseball Classic

David Ortiz Reportedly Hasn’t Expressed Interest In World Baseball Classic

It seems David Ortiz is enjoying his retirement. The former Boston Red Sox designated hitter has been appearing in a multitude of commercials, and despite his cliffhanger tweet Monday night, it appears he’s not planning on returning to the diamond. Not even to play for his home country. Even though Ortiz won’t be showing up to spring training for the Red Sox in March, the slugger hasn’t shown any interest in playing for the Dominican Republic in this year’s World Baseball Classic, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, citing team general manager Moises Alou. Ortiz wasn’t a member of the Dominican Republic team that won th... NESN.com

Joe Namath Kissing Retiring Verne Lundquist Was Highlight Of Iron Bowl

Share this: The Iron Bowl was far from an instant classic like Michigan-Ohio State was, but it still provided us with at least one memorable moment. During No. 1 Alabama’s 30-12 thumping of No. 13 Auburn, Crimson Tide legend Joe Namath visited the CBS broadcast booth to wish Verne Lundquist well before his retirement at the end of the season. And, of course, a Namath appearance wouldn’t be complete without wearing a fur coat and trying to kiss an announcer. Namath also tweeted out a message for Lundquist before his visit to the broadcast booth. Also just wanna thank Verne Lundquist for being the kinda guy he is and the great job he's done for so many sports fans for so many years. — Joe Namath (@RealJoeNamath)
