Police are asking South Side residents to concentrate on their environment after a string of robberies have been reported in May in Bronzeville, Kenwood and Hyde Park. In every incident, two to 4 males between 14 and 20 years outdated approached the victims and beat them earlier than taking their property, Chicago police stated. The robberies occurred: About 5 a.m., May 12 within the 900 block of East 50th Street; About 11 p.m., May 25 within the 5100 block of South Drexel Avenue; and About 2 p.m., May 27 within the 4800 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue. A gunman, identified by authorities as 24-year-old gamer David Katz, opened fire at a Madden Championship Series tournament at a local gaming bar, killing two and injuring at least nine others others before taking his own life.
