The Boston Bruins had one of the NHL’s hottest teams on the ropes Saturday night, but the Los Angeles Kings’ late-game magic pegged the B’s with a frustrating loss. After a back-and-forth, evenly matched contest, the Kings earned their ninth win of the season with a last-second goal that just narrowly beat the final buzzer of the overtime period. Patrice Bergeron tipped his cap to L.A. after the Bruins’ 2-1 loss, but he understandably was upset with the outcome considering how well his team played for the majority of the game. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Was ‘Worried About’ Concussion Risk In Talladega Race
Racing drivers often are thought of as fearless, but in reality, they’re just better at suppressing their fears than most people are. Dale Earnhardt Jr. admitted after Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway that, although he started from pole, he was more nervous than usual heading into the contest, according to NBC Sports. Earnhardt, who has a history of concussions, knew that, of the remaining races, the Alabama 500 presented the biggest risk of injury. “This was one I was worried about, in the back of my mind I was a little concerned,” Earnhardt said. “You can’t win the race if you race scared. I’ve raced s... NESN.com
Dwyane Wade Has Hilarious Idea On How To Stop Warriors’ Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry has been one of the best players in the NBA over the past three seasons, but one surefire Hall of Famer thinks he knows the secret to stopping “Chef Curry.” Dwyane Wade has won three NBA titles and played with a number of NBA All-Stars, so it stands to reason that he might have a trick up his sleeve to stop the two-time NBA MVP. But Wade’s idea has absolutely nothing to do with defensive strategy, as he explained on Twitter. Not a bad plan, if you ask us. Curry has been torching the league for the past three seasons, averaging 26.4 points, seven assists and more than four 3-pointers
Giancarlo Stanton Smashes Homer, Mocks Jason Grilli One Day After Game-Ending K
Giancarlo Stanton struck out to end the Miami Marlins’ game against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, but he made sure it wasn’t the same story for the series finale. Rangers reliever Jason Grilli got Stanton to swing at an 82-mph slider Tuesday to seal the Rangers 10-4 win and celebrated with some pretty emphatic fist pumping. The Marlins outfielder wouldn’t be outdone, though, as he launched a towering solo shot — StatCast measured it at 468 feet — off Grilli in the eighth inning of Wednesday’s contest and took a moment to mock the 40-year-old right-hander’s celebration. The homer was Stanton’s 33rd of the year and his 12th(!) in July.NESN.com
Rick Porcello Believes Andrew Benintendi ‘Is A Hero’ In Red Sox’s Outfield
Share this: Tuesday was a big night at Fenway Park, and not just because the Toronto Blue Jays are in town. The Boston Red Sox are hosting “Game of Thrones” night at Fenway Park, and as part of the promotional night, fans got to take home a “GOT”- themed Andrew Benintendi bobblehead doll. Red Sox pitcher Rick Porcello, who has watched a few seasons of the hit television show, was a big fan of the bobblehead doll because he believes Benintendi is a “hero” for Boston in the outfield. Porcello spoke to NESN’s Rachel Holt about “Game of Thrones” night and the outfield’s dance moves during a Facebook Live on Tuesday night. He also talked about Old Dominion Freight Line’s ongoing contest. Old Dominion Freight Line
Mitch Moreland Says It Was Just ‘One Of Those Days’ After Loss To Twins
Share this: The Boston Red Sox simply couldn’t get anything going in Wednesday night’s 4-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins at Fenway Park. Boston’s offense struggled mightily throughout the contest, as it was 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. After the game, Mitch Moreland didn’t try to pinpoint what went wrong with the Red Sox’s bats, rather just chalking it up as “one of those days.” To hear what else Moreland had to say, check out the video above from “NESN Sports Today,” presented by People’s United Bank. NBA Playoffs 2017: Celtics Vs. Wizards Second-Round Prediction; Keys To Victory
The Eastern Conference semifinals are set, and the Boston Celtics will take on the Washington Wizards in their second-round NBA playoff matchup. The Celtics and Wizards are evenly matched, as each team implements a strong backcourt with complementary wing players. The two teams’ area of struggle also is similar, as neither squad has the personnel to dominate on the glass. Considering all of the similarities, it comes as no surprise the Celtics and Wizards split their regular-season series, with the home team winning each contest. Luckily for the top-seeded Celtics, they will have home-court advantage in the series, which kicks off Sunday at TD Garden.... NESN.com
