David Pastrnak no longer is a budding star, rather a full-fledged one. And during Wednesday’s game, he etched his name into the Boston Bruins record books. The 22-year-old winger tallied the first goal of the game in the Bruins’ 4-3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center. And in scoring that goal, the 121st of his career, Pastrnak set the franchise record for most goals prior to their 23rd birthday, passing Barry Pederson. Certainly some elite company. David Backes To Have Hearing For High Hit Putting His Winter Classic In Jeopardy
The Boston Bruins might once again be down a veteran in the Winter Classic. B’s forward David Backes will have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for a high hit on New Jersey Devils forward Blake Coleman, the league announced Friday. Backes earned a minor penalty for an illegal check to the head with two minutes to go in Thursday night’s loss at TD Garden. Backes caught Coleman with a shoulder/elbow to the head, as the New Jersey forward attempted to clear the puck from the Devils zone. The B’s veteran does have a history with Player Safety after a three-game suspension last season for a hit on Red Wings

David Backes Could Return To Bruins’ Lineup Saturday Vs. Predators
The Boston Bruins have been hit with the injury bug early in the 2018-19 season. Boston placed defenseman Charlie McAvoy on injured reserve with an upper-body injury Oct. 30, and they have been without winger David Backes since he was hit by in the head by Edmonton Oilers defenseman Matt Benning on Oct. 18. Backes has battled concussions throughout his career and he spoke with the media Thursday about what the NHL leads to continue to do to protect its players.
