Djokovic gets taste for turf after win

Kneeling down on Centre Court moments after becoming the Wimbledon champion for the first time, Novak Djokovic wanted to really taste victory. Djokovic won his third Grand Slam singles title by beating defending champion Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 in Sunday's final at the All England Club. Then, basking in the moment, he dropped down on the famous lawn court, pulled out a few blades of grass and ate them. "I felt like an animal," said the second-seeded Djokovic, who had already guaranteed himself the No 1 ranking just by reaching the final. "I wanted to see how it tastes. It tastes good." Djokovic has been on quite a run this year. He started the season by winning 41 straight matches, including

As of Monday, Djokovic will move up to No. 1, and Nadal will slide down to No. 2,

Djokovic beat the top-ranked Nadal 6-4, 6-4 in the Italian Open final Sunday to stretch his unbeaten start this year to 37 matches. Djokovic trails only John McEnroe's 42-0 start in 1984.

2008 Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic faces Tomas Berdych in the quarterfinals of the 2011 Australian Open. Both players are hot. Berdych easily dismissed Fernando Verdasco while Djokovic had no problem with Nicolas Almagro. I expect Berdych to play first-strike tennis -- take chances and keep the points short -- because longer rallies favor Djokovic. My call is Djokovic in four competitive sets. What do you think? Who wins this Australian Open qua...
