Patriots’ Jacob Hollister Could See His Role Increase In Rob Gronkowski’s Absence

The New England Patriots’ depth at tight end will be thin for Monday night’s showdown with the rival Miami Dolphins. Rob Gronkowski is suspended and Martellus Bennett is out for the season with an injury, so it likely will be veteran Dwayne Allen and fourth-string tight end Jacob Hollister getting most of the action at the position against the Dolphins. What To Make Of Dwayne Allen After Patriots Tight End’s Spring Struggles

Share this: [embedded content] Organized team activities and minicamp mostly went swimmingly for the New England Patriots this spring. Most of the Patriots’ high-profile additions shined in the unpadded practices, and the defense and offense looked well-matched. Tight end Dwayne Allen, who was acquired in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts this offseason, had his struggles, however. Allen dropped passes and had some miscommunication with quarterback Tom Brady. So, are these common struggles associated with joining a new team, or is there reason to be concerned that Allen won’t be able to fill Martellus Bennett’s old role as the Patriots’ No. 2 tight end? NESN.com’s Doug Kyed, Zack Cox and Michaela Vernana discussed Allen on this week’s “Between The Tackles” podcast. Watch the clip above or

How Will Dwayne Allen Fit In With Patriots’ Numerous Offensive Weapons?

Share this: Dwayne Allen didn’t exactly get his day in the sun after being traded to the New England Patriots. And that’s not a commentary on the dreary weather in New England so far this spring, though it would be cool if temperatures would climb above 50 at some point. Thus concludes the small talk portion of this column. Allen was traded from the Indianapolis Colts on the afternoon before the start of the new NFL league year. It was the transaction that sparked countless others, officially setting off the Patriots’ offseason, and it kind of got buried. It was apparent at the time the Patriots would not be bringing back Martellus Bennett, so finding a tight end to complement and back up their injury-prone starter Rob Gronkowski was paramount.

Patriots Switching Things Up At Tight End With Reported Dwayne Allen Trade

Share this: The New England Patriots reportedly added depth at tight end Wednesday by adding Dwayne Allen in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a fourth-round pick. The Patriots also received a sixth-round pick in the deal. Allen has spent the first five years of his career with the Colts, and he had 406 yards on 35 catches with six touchdowns last season. With this trade, it appears Martellus Bennett’s time in New England has come to an end after spending one year with the team.
