Sixers’ Joel Embiid Reacts To Mid-Game Spat With Celtics’ Marcus Smart

Sixers’ Joel Embiid Reacts To Mid-Game Spat With Celtics’ Marcus Smart

Things got heated between Celtics point guard Marcus Smart and 76ers center Joel Embiid less than one minute into the second half of the Celtics’ 118-113 loss to the Philadelphia on Wednesday. Smart took a tumble in the paint after running into a pick set by Embiid, colliding with his seemingly outstretched elbow. The Celtics point guard shoved Embiid to the ground in response, and sparks went flying between the two teams. Smart received a Flagrant 2 for the push and was ejected from the game. Embiid, however, received a technical foul and was allowed to remain in the game. (You can watch the play here.) Embiid expressed his frustrations... NESN.com

NBA Fines 76ers’ Joel Embiid For NSFW Shot At Refs After Loss To Celtics

Joel Embiid’s mouthy frustration has cost him. The NBA fined the Philadelphia 76ers center $ 25,000 on Wednesday for criticizing referees after his team’s loss to the Boston Celtics, according to The Associated Press. Embiid ended his postgame press conference Tuesday night with a high-profile NSFW comment about the referees, and the NBA quickly disciplined him for “public criticism of the officiating which included use of inappropriate language.” Embiid addressed his fine Wednesday night following the 76ers’ win over the New York Knicks. “I knew what I was getting into,” he said, per The AP. This proves it’s always cheap... NESN.com

Joel Embiid Fires Twitter Shot At Celtics’ Aron Baynes During Game 4

Joel Embiid Fires Twitter Shot At Celtics’ Aron Baynes During Game 4

Joel Embiid apparently forgot what happened during the second round of the NBA playoffs. The young big man and the Philadelphia 76ers were bounced in five games by the underdog Boston Celtics thanks in large part to the play of Al Horford and one Aron Baynes. Well, during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals between the Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, Baynes corralled a loose ball on the offensive end of the floor and had a wide-open path to the basket. But there was one problem: the center forgot where he was on the floor, as he stayed stationary with the ball instead of turning and laying it in. Baynes eventually got

NBA Rumors: Celtics Unhappy Joel Embiid Walked Off Court Before Handshake

NBA Rumors: Celtics Unhappy Joel Embiid Walked Off Court Before Handshake

It’s the greatest tradition in sports: getting in line to shake the hands of the other team. But apparently, Joel Embiid wasn’t in a hand-shaking mood after the Philadelphia 76ers lost Game 5 to the Boston Celtics, 114-112, Wednesday night at TD Garden. After the final buzzer sounded, Embiid was shown heading straight to the locker room while the Celtics celebrated their series-clinching win. Ben Rohrbach of Yahoo Sports reported several Boston players were annoyed by the actions of the 76ers center. The 7-footer engaged in a lot of trash talk throughout the series, and instead of staying on the court for a few extra minutes, Embiid disre... NESN.com

Celtics Notes: Kyrie Irving Sorely Missed; Joel Embiid Dominates Boston Big Men

Celtics Notes: Kyrie Irving Sorely Missed; Joel Embiid Dominates Boston Big Men

Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving’s candidacy for NBA MVP was bolstered during Thursday night’s ugly offensive performance by the C’s in an 89-80 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers at TD Garden. Without Irving, who sat out because of a shoulder injury, the C’s shot just 41.1 percent from the floor, hit only seven of 29 3-point shots, generated 13 points in the second quarter and scored a season-low 53 points through three quarters. In addition to poor shooting, the C’s also were sloppy with the basketball. They committed 19 turnovers and had just 13 assists on 30 made shots. Irving is the team’s leading scorer with 23.6 points per game,... NESN.com

Joel Embiid Catches* Home Run Derby Ball, Makes It Look Impossibly Tiny

Share this: Aaron Judge stole the show at Monday night’s Home Run Derby. But Joel Embiid also drew plenty of attention to himself — which isn’t that hard for a 7-foot, 23-year-old to do at a baseball stadium. The Philadelphia 76ers big man rolled into Marlins Park with rapper Meek Mill and posted up in the outfield bleachers to try to snag some home run balls. And it wasn’t long before a ball came sailing his way. First, we feel bad for whoever got the seat right behind Embiid. Second, it looks like he clearly didn’t catch this ball. But if you trust “The Process,” Embiid got redemption shortly after, as he posted a photo on Twitter of himself holding an official baseball. We

Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons Have Hilarious Twitter Exchange During Debate

We’re not sure if Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid can make the Philadelphia 76ers great again, but they at least won Twitter on Wednesday night. Like many of you, the 76ers teammates were following the third and final presidential debate Wednesday. At some point, Simmons apparently had enough of what he was hearing from Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, and he took to Twitter to voice his displeasure. But that tweet became an afterthought after Embiid’s response. It turns out Simmons, who is from Australia, doesn’t have to worry about that, though. So breathe, America. If you’re struggling with this election, all y... NESN.com
