Max Holloway Out Of UFC 226 Title Fight With Concussion-Like Symptoms
LAS VEGAS — The “Blessed Era” will have to be put on hold for now. UFC featherweight champion Max “Blessed” Holloway reportedly will withdraw from his UFC 226 title fight against Brian Ortega after experiencing concussion-like symptoms. Holloway’s management team released a statement to ESPN announcing Holloway’s withdrawal. Holloway made an appearance during open workouts on Wednesday at the MGM Grand, but physically looked off during his performance. Vasyl Lomachenko Dominates Guillermo Rigondeaux, Wins In Six Rounds
Saturday night’s bout at Madison Square Garden between Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko and Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux had the makings of a great fight. And if you’re Lomachenko, it sure was. The 29-year-old got Rigondeaux to quit by a sixth-round TKO. Lomachenko controlled the fight from the beginning, allowing Rigondeaux to look comfortable only in the first round, which was spent with the two hardly throwing any punches in the center of the ring. Lomachenko won the round 10-9. But as things drew on, Lomachenko visibly was overwhelming his opponent. For Conor McGregor, Boston is somewhat of a home away from home. The Irish UFC fighter will make his boxing debut Saturday in a mega-fight against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather, Jr. at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. And people in the Boston area most certainly will be filling up the numerous Irish bars around the Hub to cheer for McGregor. Boston is an ethnically diverse city, but since immigrants from Ireland began arriving in the 19th century, people of Irish descent have remained its largest ethnic group. Whether you are excited for McGregor’s fight with the 49-0 Mayweather or believe it’s an unnecessary circus, the film certainly seems like a must-watch for those who follow “The Notorious.” There is no specific date on when the film will be released.
