Nadal, new No. 1 Djokovic reach final (AP)

WIMBLEDON, England (AP)—From 1983 to 2003, the world’s top two players never met each other in the Wimbledon men’s final. It’s about to happen for the seventh time in eight years—with a couple of twists. Thanks mainly to a couple of guys named Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, No. 1 vs. No. 2 Grand Slam finals became something of a regular occurrence in recent years, at the All England Club and elsewhere. On Sunday, No. 1 Nadal will be involved in yet another 1-2 Wimbledon championship matchup, only it’ll be against No. 2 Novak Djokovic—and they’ll switch spots in the ATP rankings a day later. As of Monday, Djokovic will move up to No. 1, and Nadal will slide down to No. 2,

New Orleans Hornets All-Star David West Opts Out of Final Year of Contract, Becomes Free Agent

When New Orleans Hornets power forward David West saw his season come to an early end in April, many assumed that the former All-Star would exercise his option for the 2011-12 season. Apparently, West has other plans. West elected to opt out of the final year of his contract and test free agency, ESPN.com reported Monday. The initial expected recovery time for the injury was six to eight months, but West has been recovering faster than expected. West, who averaged 18.9 points and 7.6 rebounds prior to his injury, is expected to draw interest from multiple clubs, including New Jersey and Indiana,

NCAA Bracket Update 2011: Can Florida Prevent a Second Final Four for Butler?

Butler needed a buzzer beater to beat Old Dominion in the first round, a foul 90 feet from the basket to upset Pittsburgh and some clutch defense and shooting down the stretch to get passed Wisconsin. However the Bulldogs are extremely experienced and they are the only team still standing from last year’s Final Four.

March Madness 2011: Why the Kansas Jayhawks Will Cruise to the Final Four

Richmond Can't Hang for 40 Minutes with KansasThe Spiders may have an intimidating mascot, which is why several people picked them to get this far. However, their road ends here as they will attempt to beat the No. 1 seeded Kansas Jayhawks. Richmond is capable of keeping it close and staying in this game, but in the end the Jayhawks will prevail. Kansas has the killer instinct to close out games in the final minutes. Their defensive intensity will turn up a notch or two in the closing minutes to solidify their trip to the Elite Eight. The Spiders top two players in Kevin Anderson and Justin Harper won't be missing much tonight. Anderson is averaging 19 points per contest during the tournament, and Harper averages
