Magical thinking: European football superstitions
Pre-match preparationKolo Touré always had to be the last player onto the pitch during his time at Arsenal – a situation which caused him trouble during a 2009 UEFA Champions League match against Roma. With team-mate William Gallas's half-time treatment for an injury delayed, Touré felt unable to re-enter the field until Gallas emerged, and the game resumed without either player. The Ivorian ended up being booked for rejoining the fray without the referee's permission.Czech Republic captain Tomáš Rosický never sang the national anthem aloud, having realised while playing for his country ... Patriots’ Defense Eyeing Uptick In Picks, Offense Looking To Curb Fumbles
by Zack Cox on Tue, Oct 25, 2016 at 5:27PM 2,744 Share this: The New England Patriots’ offense and defense both are focused on turnovers ahead of this Sunday’s rematch with the Buffalo Bills. For the offense, fumbles are a primary point of emphasis. The Patriots lost two in Sunday’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and have put the ball on the ground 14 times this season, tying their total from the entire 2015 campaign. “There’s no question that our players and our coaches are emphasizing that,” Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said Tuesday in a conference call with reporters. “We know there is no greater determinant of success than taking care of the football on offense, that’s for sure. Everybody would agree with that.
Eric Decker Injury: Fantasy Football Impact Of Jets Star Going To Injured Reserve
New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker has been placed on injured reserve because of a torn rotator cuff, the team announced Wednesday. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport painted an even worse picture for Decker’s future in 2016. This is a blow to fantasy football owners because Decker has been a productive wideout for the Jets after joining them in 2014. He missed the last two games, but the veteran receiver hauled in nine passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns during the first three games of the campaign. Decker’s absence means the Jets’ top receiver, Brandon Marshall, should have an even larger role in the offense. He had 12 receptions for 2... NESN.com

Patriots Smother Texans With Special Teams In Dominant Thursday Night Win
by Zack Cox on Fri, Sep 23, 2016 at 1:11AM 1,550 Share this: FOXBORO, Mass. — Jamie Collins was the MVP of the New England Patriots’ Thursday night victory over the Houston Texans, racking up 14 tackles to go along with one interception and one pass breakup. But Ryan Allen was a very close second. Yes, the punter. Allen was phenomenal in New England’s 27-0 win, pinning Houston inside its own 20-yard line on each of his seven punts. In fact, the Texans finished the game without a single punt return yard — zero. Five of Allen’s punts were fair-caught, and two were downed by the Patriots’ coverage team, including one at the 5-yard line with less than seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. “Man, that was unbelievable,” Patriots special
