Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar) had shown great pace all weekend at the British GP and lined up in third on the grid after carrying his dry form into a wet qualifying session. With an initial lead in the red-flagged first start, Viñales again took to the front on the restart and proved in a league of his own. The Spaniard pulled away from the pack lap after lap, with no one able to match him and eventually crossed the line over 3 seconds clear - having at one stage stretched the gap to over 4 seconds at the front.
