Share this: Sunday was a day one Los Angeles Angels fan will never forget. A kid wearing a Mike Trout jersey attempted to get an autograph from the Angels superstar before Sunday’s game between L.A. and the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Trout signed his baseball, and the kid began crying tears of joy, presumably. The kid’s reaction when Trout grabbed his baseball to sign it also was priceless, and you could see him telling Trout “you’re my favorite player.” Don’t expect this fan to ever give up that baseball. Getting an autograph from a likely Hall of Famer is one thing, but receiving it in person at an actual game is something else. More Stories Source link

Mookie Betts, Hanley Ramirez Hit Back-To-Back Homers Onto Green Monster
Share this: BOSTON — The Red Sox’s offense showed up to play Saturday night. After putting up 15 hits with just three runs in a 6-3 loss to Kansas City on Friday, Boston’s batters came roaring back for their middle game against the Royals. Xander Bogaerts started things off with a huge two-run shot in the first inning, and Mookie Betts and Ramirez joined the party in the fifth inning with back-to-back solo home runs. Before Saturday’s game, Royals starter Danny Duffy had a 1.18 ERA in August, hadn’t given up more than three runs since July 16 and hadn’t lost since June 6. The Red Sox certainly changed that by tagging him for seven runs through five innings. Betts’ home run was his 29th of
Red Sox Vs. Rays Lineup: David Ortiz Gets Day Off For Series Finale
The Boston Red Sox are switching up their lineup for their series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays. David Ortiz will get a day off Thursday, which is unsurprising given the Red Sox are playing an afternoon game after a night game. Hanley Ramirez will return to the lineup as the designated hitter and bat in the cleanup spot. Travis Shaw will take Ramirez’s post at first base and bat eighth, while Aaron Hill will slot in at third base and bat seventh. Chris Young also will start in left field and bat sixth after Andrew Benintendi injured his knee during Wednesday night’s game. Drew Pomeranz is on the mound for the Red
Patriots-Bears Notes: Chris Hogan Gets ‘Emotional’; Justin Coleman Struggles
by Zack Cox on Fri, Aug 19, 2016 at 1:48AM 10,734 Share this: FOXBORO, Mass. — The low point and highlight of Chris Hogan’s New England Patriots debut came in rapid succession Tuesday night. Early in the second half of New England’s 23-22 win over the Chicago Bears, Hogan was whistled for offensive holding downfield, chopping nine yards off what would have been a 21-yard completion to tight end Clay Harbor. The call was borderline, and Hogan, who pleaded with the official after seeing the flag fly in, clearly disagreed with it. Cut to the very next play: On first and 1 (yes, first and 1) quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo sensed pressure in the pocket, took one step forward and lofted a pass to a wide-open Hogan, who momentarily
Patriots-Bears Takeaways: Rookie Guard Joe Thuney Erases Pass Rushers
Share this: The New England Patriots’ offense couldn’t get off to a fast start for the second straight preseason game, but they still showed vast improvement Thursday in their 23-22 win over the Chicago Bears. Jimmy Garoppolo completed 16 of 21 passes for 181 yards with one touchdown, and he received a lot of help from his offensive line, most notably third-round pick Joe Thuney. Thuney continued to look like the Patriots’ best offensive lineman Thursday. See how the Patriots fared in the passing game on offense and defense. The Patriots’ defense let up a 34-yard run to Jeremy Langford on a nice play fake by Cutler, who handed the ball off but rolled out of the pocket like it was a bootleg pass. Langford ran the ball in for a 5-yard touchdown, then the Patriots let up a two-point conversion. First quarter, 7:43, Bears 3-0: The Patriots went three and out after two carries by LeGarrette Blount and a drop by Aaron Dobson. First quarter, 8:59, Bears 3-0: The Bears settled for a field goal after a penalty-plagued drive to start the game. Jay Cutler was 5 of 6 for 63 yards. Patriots cornerback Justin Coleman
Martellus Bennett Among Top Performers From Patriots-Saints Preseason Game
The New England Patriots didn’t have many of their stars on the field for their first preseason game of the 2016 season, but they still received plenty of notable performances.
