Red Sox Notes: Dustin Pedroia Does It All In Boston’s Win Over Rangers

Share this: Dustin Pedroia did it all Monday night for the Boston Red Sox, and if you ask his manager, it might have been one of the second baseman’s best games in a Red Sox uniform. Pedroia went 3-for-5 with four RBI in the Red Sox’s 7-5 extra-inning win over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park, while making multiple key defensive plays behind Boston’s  pitching staff. He got his night started with a two-run single in the second inning to give Boston its first lead. Then in the sixth inning, Pedroia came to plate with the game tied and bases loaded with two outs against Rangers reliever Tony Barnette. After a wild pitch scored a run to give Boston the lead, Pedroia

Mookie Betts Has Historic Day In Red Sox’s Clubbing Of Blue Jays

Share this: Mookie Betts had a huge day Sunday at Rogers Centre. The Boston Red Sox right fielder went 4-for-6 with two home runs and eight RBIs in Boston’s 15-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays and is hitting .483 over his past seven games. Betts became the first leadoff hitter in Red Sox history to record eight RBIs in a game since RBIs became an official stat in 1920, and he also joined Nomar Garciaparra as the only other member of the Red Sox to record multiple games with eight RBIs in his career. Bruins Roster Reset: Projected Lines, Pairings Before NHL Free Agency

Share this: The Boston Bruins ended their playoff drought last season and integrated a few talented young players into their roster. The most notable name from that group was defenseman Charlie McAvoy, who played with the poise of a veteran despite making his NHL debut in Boston’s first-round playoff series against the Ottawa Senators. The Bruins have made five first-round picks over the last three drafts, which has stocked the prospect pool with a ton of talent. However, that doesn’t mean the B’s won’t be active in the NHL’s free-agent market when it opens at noon ET on Saturday, July 1. Here’s the Bruins’ projected lineup entering free agency (RFA denotes players who are restricted free agents July 1). FORWARDSBrad Marchand–Patrice Bergeron–David Pastrnak (RFA)Frank

Red Sox Notes: Chris Sale Praises Boston’s Bullpen For Shutting Door Vs. Twins

Share this: Chris Sale was good Monday night against the Minnesota Twins, but he wasn’t great. The Boston Red Sox left-hander tossed 6 1/3 innings, allowing only one run on four hits with nine strikeouts. Sale didn’t face too much trouble in his outing, but a rocky start to the seventh inning forced him out of the ballgame. Heath Hembree followed Sale, and induced an inning-ending double play to get out of the seventh. Matt Barnes then hurled a flawless eighth frame in which he struck out the side, and Craig Kimbrel nailed down the victory for his 21st save of the season to ensure Boston’s 4-1 victory. After the game, Sale had high praise for Boston’s relief pitchers, not just for their performance against the

Islanders Trade Travis Hamonic To Flames For Multiple NHL Draft Picks

Islanders Trade Travis Hamonic To Flames For Multiple NHL Draft Picks

The Calgary Flames and New York Islanders made the first major trade at the 2017 NHL Draft on Saturday. Calgary acquired top-four defenseman Travis Hamonic and a fourth-round draft pick from New York in exchange for three draft picks. Hamonic tallied 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) in 49 games for the Islanders last season. He also averaged 20:27 of ice time per game. Lower and upper body injuries derailed Hamonic’s 2016-17 campaign. He’s signed for three more years with a contract that carries a $ 3,857,143 salary cap hit. Hamonic joins a Flames blue line that includes impressive defensemen Mark Giordano and Dougie Hamilton. Red Sox Wrap: Boston’s Bullpen Implodes In 6-4 Loss To Royals

Share this: The Boston Red Sox’s bullpen hadn’t blown a save in their last 21 games coming into Wednesday’s game against the Kansas City Royals. But all streaks must come to an end. The Red Sox held a two-run lead in the eighth inning at Kauffman Stadium, but Matt Barnes and Robby Scott were unable to get the ball to Craig Kimbrel. Barnes walked the first two batters he faced to start the inning, and Scott followed by walking Eric Hosmer to load the bases with no outs. That’s when Salvador Perez made them pay. The All-Star catcher blasted a 3-2 fastball over the left field fence for a grand slam to give the Royals a 6-4 lead they wouldn’t relinquish. The Red Sox fell

Red Sox Notes: Chris Sale Says He’ll ‘Never Settle’ After Missing Complete Game

Share this: Chris Sale is one of the best pitchers in baseball, and he’s also one of the fiercest competitors. This was on full display Tuesday night, when the Boston Red Sox left-hander narrowly missed a complete game against the Kansas City Royals. Sale tossed 8 1/3 dominant innings in the Red Sox’s 8-3 win over the Royals, but the five-time MLB All-Star visibly was upset when manager John Farrell yanked him in the ninth inning. After the game, Sale didn’t hide the fact that he was upset with not being able to go the distance, but his mood quickly changed once his team sealed the victory. “It sucks,” he said, as seen on NESN’s Red Sox postgame coverage. “I wanted to get that
