Bruins Captain Zdeno Chara Dedicates 200th NHL Goal To His Father
Zdeno Chara added to his legendary career Saturday night. The Boston Bruins captain scored his 200th career NHL goal in the Bruins’ 7-3 victory over the Florida Panthers. Chara is just the 22nd defenseman in NHL history to score at least 200 goals. After the game, the 42-year-old dedicated his historic goal to his father. “I’d like to dedicate this goal to my dad,” Chara said. “He brought me to hockey and was always very supportive, always teaching what to do, how to train.” To hear what else Chara had to say, check out the clip above from “NESN Sports Today,” presented by People’s United Bank.
Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron Connect For Goal Off Faceoff Win Vs. Kings
Brad Marchand netted his 23rd goal of the season in beautiful fashion on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Kings. Lining up for an offensive zone faceoff against Anze Kopitar, Patrice Bergeron won the draw to his right, finding Marchand on the wing. With Danton Heinen setting a pick, Marchand was able to rifle off a shot that beat kings goalie Jack Campbell to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead. Boston went on to win 4-2. Bruins Notes: David Pastrnak Sets Franchise Record With Goal Vs. Flyers
David Pastrnak no longer is a budding star, rather a full-fledged one. And during Wednesday’s game, he etched his name into the Boston Bruins record books. The 22-year-old winger tallied the first goal of the game in the Bruins’ 4-3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center. And in scoring that goal, the 121st of his career, Pastrnak set the franchise record for most goals prior to their 23rd birthday, passing Barry Pederson. Certainly some elite company. Bruins Wrap: Joakim Nordstrom’s OT Goal Lifts Boston Past Penguins 2-1
The Boston Bruins hadn’t had a lot of luck in overtime this season, but it was a different story Friday night. Boston and the Pittsburgh Penguins battled to a 1-1 tie through three periods at TD Garden before Joakim Nordstrom put one past Penguins netminder Tristan Jarry with 1:57 remaining in overtime to give the B’s a 2-1 win.
