Patriots Injury Report: Malcolm Mitchell Downgraded To Out For Game Vs. Dolphins

Share this: The New England Patriots will be down another wide receiver this weekend. Wideout Malcolm Mitchell was downgraded to out for the Pats’ Week 17 road game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Mitchell didn’t practice all week due to a knee injury, making this news far from shocking. He was listed as doubtful on Friday’s injury report. The Patriots already announced wide receiver Danny Amendola won’t play Sunday due to a high ankle sprain. Cornerback Cyrus Jones also was ruled out with a knee injury. Quarterback Tom Brady (thigh), tight end Martellus Bennett (ankle/shoulder), linebacker Dont’a Hightower (knee) and wide receiver/special teamer Matthew Slater (foot) all were listed as questionable on Friday’s report. Mitchell has logged 401 yards on 32 receptions with four touchdowns in his rookie season. Sunday’s game at

Dont’a Hightower Mum On Patriots D’s Lack Of Playmakers: ‘That’s Out Of My Pay Grade’

The New England Patriots’ defense has been huge weakness for the team this season, but the players are leaving that topic up to coach Bill Belichick. New England traded linebacker Chandler Jones this offseason, traded linebacker Jamie Collins during their Week 9 bye and made defensive end Jabaal Sheard inactive before Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers without any explanation. Dont’a Hightower joined “Ordway, Merloni & Fauria” on Monday and was asked if he was “comfortable” with the Patriots’ lack of playmakers on defense, but the defensive captain didn’t offer much insight. “Whether I am comfortable or not, that’... Dont’a Hightower Misses Third Straight Patriots Practice; Eric Rowe Also Absent

by Zack Cox on Fri, Sep 16, 2016 at 12:02PM 2,039 Share this: FOXBORO, Mass. — It appears highly unlikely New England Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower will be healthy enough to play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Hightower, who suffered a knee injury in the Patriots’ Week 1 win over the Arizona Cardinals, missed his third consecutive practice Friday. The 26-year-old team captain has appeared in all 16 games just once in his four-year NFL career, and injuries limited him to 12 games in each of the last two seasons. Cornerback Eric Rowe also was absent after injuring his ankle during Thursday’s session. Every other Patriots player, including tight end Rob Gronkowski, who did not play against the Cardinals, was present at practice. Dont’a Hightower, Danny Amendola Among Patriots’ Stars In Win Over Jets

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The New England Patriots proved one thing Sunday: They can win ugly. Playing one of the worst teams in the NFL, the Patriots beat the New York Jets just 17-16 as they had trouble moving the ball on offense and stopping the Jets’ rushing attack. The Patriots’ offensive line allowed four sacks to the Jets as quarterback Tom Brady was getting beat up all game. With all the negatives out of the way, here are this week’s stars of the game: DANNY AMENDOLAAmendola didn’t replace Julian Edelman, who was out with a concussion, but he filled in admirably as the Patriots’ slot/Z receiver. Amendola caught eight passes on 11 targets for 63 yards. He
