There wasn’t much to get excited about for the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night in the series finale against the Cleveland Indians. Chris Sale turned in his worst start of the season, as the left-hander was shelled for six runs on seven hits over just three innings of work. Sale wasn’t the only Boston pitcher who struggled, though, as Cleveland collected 18 hits in its 13-6 blowout victory. But the pitching woes weren’t the biggest cause for concern Thursday night. In the seventh inning, Mookie Betts exited the game with a right knee contusion. After the game, Red Sox manager John Farrell provided an update on Betts’ ailment. “It’s a ... NESN.com

Red Sox Have Big Shoes To Fill At Second Base With Dustin Pedroia Injured
It’s impossible to overstate just how important Dustin Pedroia is to the Boston Red Sox’s clubhouse, but the team will have to continue on without him for the time being. The Red Sox second baseman, who had just come off the disabled list earlier this week, is headed back to the 10-day DL after playing one game due to more knee issues. And while Eduardo Nunez has been playing well ever since joining the Sox, losing Pedroia for any amount of time certainly isn’t ideal. Pedroia leads the team in batting average and OBP, and he’s also third in RBIs and OPS. Hear more about the impact of losing Pedroia in the video from
Kyle Long’s Injured Ankle Looks Gruesome Ahead Of Much-Needed Surgery
Share this: Thank goodness Kyle Long will undergo surgery Monday. The Chicago Bears offensive lineman used Twitter on Sunday to share a picture of his injured ankle with the world. The image clearly shows why he’ll sit out the rest of the NFL season. Long suffered ligament damage on Nov. 13 when fullback Paul Lasike fell onto him in the Bears’ Week 10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Trainers carted Long off the field, and he returned to the sideline with his lower leg heavily bandaged. The Bears subsequently placed the three-time Pro Bowl guard on injured reserve. Nobody who has seen Long’s injured ankle will doubt why. Thumbnail photo via Kim Klement/USA TODAY Sports Images More Stories Source link
Jamaal Charles Reportedly Placed On Injured Reserve By Chiefs After Setback
Share this: Jamaal Charles’ injury setbacks reportedly just got even worse. The Kansas City Chiefs placed the running back on injured reserve Tuesday, a league source told ESPN’s Field Yates. Charles suffered a torn ACL last season, and the move Tuesday came after he felt soreness in his right knee, according to ESPN. Chiefs coach Andy Reid also said Charles saw surgeon Dr. James Andrews on Monday after missing Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. Charles will have to remain on injured reserve for eight weeks, which means he still could play again this regular season and in the playoffs, if the Chiefs make it. It’s still unclear whether that would happen, though. Charles only has played in parts of three games this season. He’s rushed for 40
Eric Decker Injury: Fantasy Football Impact Of Jets Star Going To Injured Reserve
New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker has been placed on injured reserve because of a torn rotator cuff, the team announced Wednesday. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport painted an even worse picture for Decker’s future in 2016. This is a blow to fantasy football owners because Decker has been a productive wideout for the Jets after joining them in 2014. He missed the last two games, but the veteran receiver hauled in nine passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns during the first three games of the campaign. Decker’s absence means the Jets’ top receiver, Brandon Marshall, should have an even larger role in the offense. He had 12 receptions for 2... NESN.com
Why The Red Sox Probably Chose To Keep Joe Kelly In Triple-A All Season
Share this: The Boston Red Sox could use a hard-throwing reliever for the late innings to help bridge the gap to All-Star closer Craig Kimbrel. Joe Kelly might just be that guy. The 28-year-old started the season in Boston’s rotation, make two horrid starts before getting injured in his third, hitting the disabled list, and returning for three more starts, the latter two of which were also horrid. Then Kelly disappeared, demoted to the minors for nearly two weeks before popping up for a few days at the end of July. Despite performing well in three relief outings then, he was sent back down to Triple-A Pawtucket until September call-ups. Since his return, he’s pitched two scoreless eighth innings, and in five outings as
Finn Balor Injured At SummerSlam, Forced To Relinquish WWE Universal Championshi…
Share this: Randy Orton wasn’t the only person injured at SummerSlam on Sunday night. The WWE Universe was enthralled over Finn Balor’s victory over Seth Rollins which made him the inaugural WWE Universal champion. But Balor actually was injured during the match, and now has to relinquish his championship belt just hours after winning it. There were rumors that Balor was injured overnight after a photo of him wearing a sling on his right arm popped up. But the WWE confirmed the injury Monday afternoon, even tweeting out video of when the injury occurred. It seemed that Balor dislocated his shoulder after being thrown into the boards by Rollins, but immediately popped it back in right on the ground before getting up and continuing
