FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady needed stitches near his right thumb to play Sunday. It did not look like he had a sewn up throwing hand as he led the Patriots to a fourth-quarter comeback win over the Jacksonville Jaguars to move on to Super Bowl LII. And how many stitches Brady needed on his hand depends on which reporter or radio personality you believe. WEEI’s Kirk Minihane initially said Brady needed three. The Sports Hub’s Mike Felger said Brady was sewn up with four. ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported Brady needed 10 stitches before the game. After the game, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said No. 12 actually needed 12. Br... NESN.com

by Zack Cox on Thu, Jan 11, 2018 at 10:23AM 1,474 FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots enjoyed remarkable injury luck in 2016. That hasn’t been the case this season. Bills’ Tyrod Taylor Suffers Head Injury On Final Drive Of Loss To Jags
Through 58 minutes Sunday’s AFC Wild Card Round matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars was relatively uneventful. The final two minutes were a different story, however. Buffalo trailed 10-3 late in the fourth quarter of what was an old-fashioned, defense-heavy affair. Facing a 3rd-and-five from his own 42-yard line, Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor scrambled for two yards, but took a vicious hit from Jags defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. at the end of the play. The 28-year-old laid motionless while medical staff attended to him, but eventually got to his feet and walked off the field on his own power. Here’s the play: NESN.com

Isaiah Thomas soon will return to the NBA court bearing that familiar chip on his shoulder. As he nears his comeback from a long-term hip injury, the Cleveland Cavaliers guard gave a candid interview Tuesday with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, in which he vowed to silence doubters and earn the lucrative contract he wants. Thomas also revealed the extent of the grudge he still bears against the Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge for sending him to the Cavs last summer in a blockbuster trade for Kyrie Irving. Drew Brees Lit Into ‘Thursday Night Football’ After Slew Of Saints Injuries
Drew Brees is not a fan of playing on Thursday night. The New Orleans Saints suffered a tough 20-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons Thursday, but as concerning for the Saints was the loss of five players due to injury. Having played just four days prior against the Carolina Panthers, the Saints quarterback was irate about the quick turnaround. “It’s 100 percent a product of playing on Thursday night,” Brees told reporters after being asked if the injuries could be attributed to the short rest. “Do you understand what guys’ bodies go through, you know, in a game? And to have to turn around four days later and to play, look at the injury studies,
Texans Defensive End J.J. Watt Takes First Steps Since Leg Injury
The injury bug has bitten the Houston Texans pretty hard this season, but things are beginning to look up. Injuries to defensive end J.J. Watt and quarterback DeShaun Watson have derailed this season for the 4-7 Texans. But moving forward to 2018, Watt took a big step forward Tuesday. Literally. The four-time Pro-Bowler posted a video of him taking his first steps on a treadmill since the injury. He shared the video in an Instagram story. While there’s obviously no chance he returns this season, to see him rehabbing it and moving around — even if just a little bit — must be encouraging to the Texans, especially given how devastating the ...
