Steve Kerr was a bit flustered Thursday night after the Golden State Warriors defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 126-113 at Oracle Arena. It had nothing to do with Golden State’s performance — the Warriors beat a good team to improve their NBA-best record — or any pressing issues facing the organization. Instead, the Warriors coach was “rattled” because he thought one reporter asking a question actually was San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Truth be told, the inquiring mind did not belong to Jimmy G, who’s set to become a free agent after an impressive string of performances down the stretch following an October trade fr... NESN.com

Bill Belichick Briefly Explains Why Patriots Signed Backup QB Brian Hoyer
There was a quick 24-hour span when New England Patriots rookie tight end Jacob Hollister might have been Tom Brady’s backup quarterback. The Patriots officially traded quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to the 49ers on Tuesday afternoon and eventually signed Brian Hoyer, who San Francisco released, on Wednesday. Brady was the only quarterback on the Patriots’ roster during that span, and Hollister was the only healthy player who served as a college QB. It seems obvious why the Patriots elected to sign Hoyer over other available quarterbacks, most notably former 49ers signal-caller Colin Kaepernick. Hoyer played with the Patriots from 2009 until the summer of 2... NESN.com

Patriots Reportedly Still Open To Trading Jimmy Garoppolo For Right Offer
Share this: It turns out Jimmy Garoppolo’s days with the New England Patriots could be numbered after all. Just a day after ESPN’s Adam Schefter adamantly reported Garoppolo “is not going to be traded” by the Pats, Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot painted a very different picture Thursday, citing a league source. In fact, it appears a trade still is an option for New England, although with one major stipulation. Substantial trade talks apparently already have started, as the source told Cabot there is a “preliminary offer” from one team, and a second team is expected to make a bid for Garoppolo, too. A first-round pick is among the assets the Patriots are looking for in such a trade, according to Cabot. The Cleveland Browns are among the teams
Patriots Reportedly Not Expected To Trade Jimmy Garoppolo This Offseason
by Zack Cox on Wed, Mar 1, 2017 at 9:01AM 2,679 Share this: After months of rampant trade speculation, it appears Jimmy Garoppolo is staying put. In what he called “a move that will have a ripple effect on all QB-needy teams,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday, citing league sources, that the New England Patriots are not expected to trade Garoppolo this offseason. “I’m telling you right now, (the Patriots) love Jimmy Garoppolo,” Schefter said on “SportsCenter.” “… He is not going to be traded.” The 25-year-old quarterback has one year remaining on his rookie contract, and with starting QB Tom Brady showing no signs of decline as he approaches age 40, many predicted the Patriots would deal Garoppolo rather than risk losing him for nothing
Colin Cowherd Thinks Jimmy Garoppolo Is More Valuable Than No. 1 Pick
Share this: The New England Patriots have one of the most valuable assets in the NFL in backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Trade talk surrounding Garoppolo will likely dominate the NFL offseason. And while the Cleveland Browns, who own the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, have been rumored to be interested in the Patriots’ quarterback, one prominent media member doesn’t think the Patriots should pull the trigger if offered the top pick for their backup signal caller. FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd went on “Undisputed” Monday and voiced his opinion that Garoppolo is more valuable than the No. 1 0verall pick. “I wouldn’t trade him, either, I’m not surprised at all, ” Cowherd said. “Tom’s (Brady) 40, and it’s a big difference between Tom
