Musical star Rihanna was one of many celebrities at Game 1 of the 2017 NBA Finals at Oracle Arena on Thursday night, and she did her best to rattle Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant. In the second half, Durant was at the free throw line when Rihanna yelled “brick.” After hitting a 3-point shot a bit later, he stared her down while running back on defense. Durant arrived back in Oakland in a wheelchair Wednesday, and KTVU had a helicopter waiting to film his return. Sure this is a disheartening image for Warriors and NBA fans alike, but Twitter managed to bring some levity to the situation by referencing the most notable wheelchair moment in NBA history, over and over again. At a groundbreaking ceremony for the team’s new San Francisco arena, Chase Center, which is scheduled to open for the 2019-20 season, superstar forward Kevin Durant put a smile on Dubs fans’ faces when asked if he’ll re-sign with Golden State. That sure seems like a yes. Durant signed a two-year, $54 million-plus contract with the Warriors over the summer, but the second year is a player option. So he either could opt into the final year of his contract or sign for even more money with the new NBA Collective Bargain Agreement in place.
