One of Kobe Bryant’s next entertainment projects will be for the kiddos’ benefit. The NBA legend is launching a new podcast called “The Punies,” which will focus on life lessons children can learn through sports, according to PEOPLE’s Jason Duaine Hahn. Each 15-minute episode will follow the character “Puny” Pete, who attempts to tackle sporting activities along with his friends. Bryant, will direct the episodes, which humorously will resemble sports broadcasts. “If you’re able to implant life lessons through humor, and through fantasy and fairytale then those tend to resonate a lot more (with children),” Bryant ... Kobe Bryant Takes Shot At FOX News’ Laura Ingraham In Oscars Acceptance Speech
Kobe Bryant now has as many Academy Awards as Leonardo DiCaprio. Let that sink in. The Los Angeles Lakers legend took home the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film on Sunday for his film “Dear Basketball,” and Bryant used his acceptance speech to send a message to Laura Ingraham, the FOX News anchor who took a shot at LeBron James over his criticism of President Donald Trump. “I don’t’ know if it’s possible, I mean as basketball players we’re really supposed to shut up and dribble,” Bryant said, “but I’m glad we do a little bit more than that.” Another bucket for the Black Mamba. James responded to Ingraham’s wild... NESN.com
Why Stephen A. Smith Believes Kyrie Irving Is ‘A Clone of Kobe Bryant’
Kyrie Irving looks like a smart, smart man right now. Since requesting a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer, his former team has been reeling, forced to trade away half the assets they received to get the 25-year-old out of Cleveland at the NBA trade deadline. Meanwhile, he has taken Boston by storm, leading the Celtics to the best record in the Eastern Conference. He’s drawn the admiration of plenty for having the foresight to get out of LeBron James’ shadow and pave his own way, and it’s for that reason Stephen A. Smith thinks he is like a “clone of Kobe Bryant.” The First Take co-host discussed Irving’s genius, and he... NESN.com
Lakers’ Incredible Kobe Bryant Tribute Before Final Game Will Give You Chills
Kobe Bryant’s NBA career will come to an end Wednesday night, but not before one last tribute from the team and city he’s called home for the past 20 years. The surefire Basketball Hall of Famer stepped onto the Staples Center floor for the final time as a player Wednesday, and the Lakers honored him with a touching tribute prior to their season finale against the Utah Jazz. The ceremony included a video of some of the top moments in the five-time NBA champion’s storied career. Then, NBA greats — and fans — like Magic Johnson wished the Black Mamba a fond farewell. Johnson also added a few m...
Kobe Bryant Makes Presence Felt In Epic Final Chapter Vs. Celtics
For an arena housing the second-worst team in the NBA, the Staples Center sure had plenty of buzz Sunday night. Such is the larger-than-life presence of Kobe Bryant. Running on fumes as he nears the end of his illustrious 20-year NBA career, the Los Angeles Lakers legend turned back the clock one more time against the Boston Celtics, dropping a game-high 34 points in a 107-100 loss to his old foe. Never mind that Bryant entered the game shooting just 35 percent from the floor and had scored seven points total in his previous two games. Sunday night belonged to Kobe, a fact he established immediately by drilling an 18-foot jumper and deep 3-poin...
Kobe Bryant Kicks Larry Nance Jr. Off Bench, Makes Rookie Sit On Floor (Video)
When you’ve accomplished as much as Kobe Bryant, you earn the right to pull rank every once in a while. That’s exactly what Bryant did Tuesday night. The 37-year-old Los Angeles Lakers guard was inactive for his team’s game against the Dallas Mavericks with a sore right shoulder. But Bryant still was at Staples Center, and when he strolled along the sideline in the first quarter to take a seat on the bench, he realized every spot was taken. So, he decided to just kick a teammate out of his seat. That poor teammate was Larry Nance, Jr., the same rookie forward who had to apologize earlier this season for a nasty tweet he
Kobe Bryant Attempts Penalty Kick During Halftime of Manchester United, FC Barcelona Exhibition Match (Video)
While many NBA players are lining up to jet across the Atlantic to play in leagues across Europe and China, Kobe Bryant seems content to just sit back and show off his athleticism. The perennial All-Star was reportedly going to have representatives talk to the Turkish club Besiktas on Saturday, but according to ESPN, during a news conference on Sunday, Bryant said, "I haven't spoken to Beskitas in weeks." And according to a source in an NBA.com report, there is a "zero percent" chance that Bryant will play alongside New Jersey Nets guard and Besiktas signee Deron Williams with the Turkish club. Bryant instead seems to be turning his attention to soccer. OK, so not really. But during halftime of an exhibition match in
