Celtics Wrap: Isaiah Thomas, Kelly Olynyk Lead C’s To 112-104 Win Over Jazz

Share this: The Boston Celtics should have been tired playing their third game in four nights against a team with the third-ranked defense in the NBA. The C’s, however, shot 59.2 percent from the field en route to a 112-104 win over the Utah Jazz that wasn’t as close as the final score would indicate. Boston got off to a hot start and never let the Jazz get comfortable, leading by double digits for most of the contest before weathering a late run to secure the win. Isaiah Thomas led the Celtics with 29 points, while Kelly Olynyk (19 points, seven rebounds), Gerald Green (16 points) and Al Horford (16 points, nine rebounds) each scored in double figures for the Celtics. Tom Brady Opens Up About Donald Trump Friendship, Doesn’t Know Why It’s Big Deal

Share this: There really isn’t a lot of controversy surrounding the New England Patriots’ record ninth Super Bowl appearance, but that doesn’t mean the talk leading up to Super Bowl LI will be centered squarely on football. Given the political atmosphere in the country, paired with the Patriots’ unquestionable links to President Donald Trump, it’s safe to assume his name might come up a time or two in the two weeks leading up to the game in Houston. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has a longstanding friendship with the new president, dating far back before Trump even considered a presidential run. That friendship really came to the forefront when Brady placed a “Make America Great Again” hat in his locker for the world to

Share this: Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin preached the importance of staying quiet in the week leading up to the AFC Championship Game and letting their play do the talking against the New England Patriots. In the process, he caught Tomlin saying some unflattering things about the Patriots during his postgame speech, while also lamenting the fact Pittsburgh’s game was moved to Sunday night while the Patriots played Saturday night. “When you get to this

Red Sox Vs. Yankees Lineup: Boston’s Stars Get Night Off After Clinching Division

Some of the Boston Red Sox’s heaviest hitters are getting a night off after helping the team clinch the American League East. The Red Sox won another division title Wednesday night despite losing to the New York Yankees 5-3 after first baseman Mark Teixeira’s walk-off grand slam. And Boston is in full playoff mode now, making sure its starters get some rest Thursday before the real hard work begins. Deven Marrero will start at second base in Pedroia’s stead and bat last, while Travis Shaw takes over at ... NESN.com

Sam Gagner’s Nifty Shootout Goal Lifts Blue Jackets Over Bruins In Preseason Ope…

Share this: The Boston Bruins fought through 65 minutes of timed hockey, but it wasn’t enough to come away from Monday’s preseason opener with a victory. Boston lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a shootout, 3-2, after Sam Gagner’s nifty goal ended things following a scoreless five-minute overtime period. Despite never leading in the game, Boston didn’t find itself playing catch-up for too long, either. After a scoreless first period, Columbus found the net just 2:34 into the second period when Sonny Milano scored a power play goal to give his team a 1-0 advantage. It didn’t take Boston long to answer, though, as Jimmy Hayes took a feed from Jake DeBrusk and Austin Czarnik on a rush to even the score at

Braves, Marlins Clear Benches After Jose Ramirez Buzzes Jose Fernandez

Share this: A couple of pitchers named “Jose” were at the center of a heated situation Wednesday night at Turner Field. The Braves and Marlins cleared the benches when Atlanta reliever Jose Ramirez threw a pitch over the head of Miami ace Jose Fernandez. Fernandez had been squaring around to bunt in the seventh inning when he received the chin music from Ramirez. No punches were thrown once everyone ran onto the field, but it was a rather tense game, all things considered. Braves starter Julio Teheran almost hit Fernandez in the fifth inning and plunked Martin Prado in the sixth, after which Fernandez drilled Nick Markakis. Perhaps that sequence of events sparked Ramirez’s purpose pitch in the seventh, although it’s
