Syahrin impresses in first MotoGP™ session

Hafizh Syahrin is off to a good start in his premier class career, with the Malaysian taking part in the #ThaiTest at Monster Yamaha Tech 3 with a view to replacing Jonas Folger for the full season. The ‘Pescao’, the first Malaysian in MotoGP™,  put in a solid first session and was within half a second of fellow rookies Tom Lüthi (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) and Xavier Simeon (Reale Avintia Racing). Broc Parkes replaces Folger for Phillip Island

Experienced Australian rider Broc Parkes will fill in for the recovering Jonas Folger at Monster Yamaha Tech 3 this weekend at Phillip Island. Folger returned to his native Germany before the Japanese Grand Prix to undertake blood tests for the suspected Epstein Barr virus. Monster Yamaha Tech 3 would like to welcome Parkes, who has previously competed in MotoGP™ in 2014 and who has achieved success in the World Superbike and Supersport leagues. The Australian ace is also a competitive front-runner in the FIM Endurance World Championship for the Yamaha Austria Racing Team, having picked up four podiums in fifteen races. Source link

9 reasons why…2017 could be even better than 2016!

In MotoGP™, there are four rookies in 2017. Moto2™ Champion Johann Zarco, joined at Monster Yamaha Tech 3 by former Moto2™ rival Jonas Folger, and intermediate class title challengers Alex Rins, at Team Suzuki Ecstar, and Sam Lowes, at Aprilia Racing Team Gresini. Pre-season testing proved more difficult for Lowes and Rins, who both cut their track time short following crashes, but Zarco and Folger were both immediately on the pace and within hundredths of each other. The fight for Rookie of the Year in 2017 will surely be a mouth-watering one. Source link

That's a wrap: rain hits final Friday of Jerez test

From MotoGP™, those present throughout the test included Bautista and teammate Karel Abraham,  Barbera and teammate Loris Baz, Pirro, Miller, Andrea Iannone riding the Team Suzuki Ecstar machine and Octo Pramac Yakhnich pairing Scott Redding and Danilo Petrucci. Movistar Yamaha MotoGP and Monster Yamaha Tech 3 did not attend the Jerez test, instead electing to test privately at Sepang International Circuit, and Repsol Honda riders Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez also sat Jerez out. Smith injured in Oschersleben crash

Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider Bradley Smith was set to take part in the Oschersleben 8 Hours endurance race following the Czech GP, with the Brit joining the YART Yamaha Official EWC Team on track to work towards the FIM EWC title in 2016. The MotoGP™ podium finisher crashed in Free Practice however, injuring his left leg in an incident with another rider. Although initial reports claimed a broken femur for Smith, further examination has seen the injury assessed as a deep cut in the Yamaha rider's thigh, rather than a fracture. Source link
