Petrosyan installed as new Armenia boss

Artur Petrosyan has been named as the new coach of Armenia, replacing Varuzhan Sukiasyan, who resigned six days ago, his side having lost their first three European qualifiers by an aggregate score of 8-1.Now 44, Petrosyan was one of Armenia's top players in the late 1990s and early 2000s, amassing 69 caps and scoring 11 goals – a national record which Manchester United FC's Henrikh Mkhitaryan has since broken. He worked as assistant to Bernard Challandes during the Swiss coach's time as Armenia boss, and said of his new appointment: "I am happy to have been entrusted with leading the national side."

Quentin Groves, Former NFL Player And Auburn Star, Dies At 32

Share this: Seven-year NFL veteran and former Auburn star Quentin Groves died in his sleep early Saturday morning after reportedly suffering a heart attack. He was 32. Groves and his wife, Teska Baptiste, were in Trinidad for the weekend to visit Baptiste’s homeland. The two met while at Auburn, where Baptiste ran track. During his NFL career, Groves amassed 9.5 sacks and 175 tackles while playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns and the Tennessee Titans. However, Groves made his mark during his career at Auburn, where his 26 sacks are tied for the school record. Groves was named first-team All-SEC in 2006. Jacoby Brissett Named One Of Patriots’ Practice Players Of The Week

Share this: FOXBORO, Mass. — Apparently New England Patriots rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett had a solid week of practice before he was called into action Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Brissett was named one of the Patriots’ practice players of the week for his work leading up to the team’s game against the Dolphins. Rookie linebacker Elandon Roberts and practice squad defensive tackle Woodrow Hamilton also earned the honor. It’s possible Brissett was named one of the Patriots’ practice players of the week for imitating Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The Patriots beat the Dolphins 31-24 in the Week 2 matchup. Brissett completed 6 of 9 passes for 92 yards in two-plus quarters under center. He could start the Patriots’ Week 3 matchup against the Houston

Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches has been named as SOCAR Young Player of the Tournament at UEFA EURO 2016.The award – open to all players born on or after 1 January 1994 – was chosen by the UEFA technical observers, led by UEFA chief technical officer Ioan Lupescu and including Sir Alex Ferguson and Alain Giresse. Wofford’s Breitenstein named to Preseason All-America

Eric Breitenstein, who set a school rushing record at Wofford College last season, has been named a first-team FCS Preseason All-America by Consensus Draft Services.  Breitenstein, a red-shirt junior who played at Watauga High from 2004-07, led the Southern Conference in rushing yards and touchdowns. The Terriers, thanks to Breitenstein, shared the Southern Conference championship with Appalachian State last season. The Terriers were eliminated by Georgia Southern in the FCS quarterfinals.
