Bubba Wallace Tweets Congratulations At Friend Ryan Blaney On Pocono 400 Win

Share this: Sunday afternoon’s Axalta presents the Pocono 400 race in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series was one Darrell Wallace Jr. never will forget. Wallace made his NASCAR Cup Series debut at Pocono Raceway, becoming the seventh African-American driver to compete in the series. His friend Ryan Blaney won Sunday’s race — the 99th career victory for Wood Brothers Racing — and Wallace was very excited for him. Wallace finished 26th in his debut, but there’s certainly a lot to like about his and Blaney’s future in NASCAR. Thumbnail photo via Matthew O’Haren/USA TODAY Sports Images More Stories Source link

Scott Speed: Red Bull GRC’s ‘Unbelievable’ Access Makes Sport Enjoyable

Share this: THOMPSON, CONN. — Scott Speed has competed in some of the top motorsport series in the world, from Formula One to NASCAR, but he’s found a home in Red Bull Global Rallycross, thanks to the sport’s fan-friendly atmosphere. Much like NASCAR, though arguably more so, Red Bull GRC lets you get up close to your favorite cars and drivers. That “unbelievable” access is something Speed says makes the up-and-coming series so appealing, and not just to race fans. If you’ve ever watched some of Kyle Busch’s post-race press conferences, you know racing drivers don’t always like being in the spotlight. However, Speed says the open nature of the paddock is what makes GRC so enjoyable for the drivers. NESN Fuel’s Pat McAssey

NASCAR Fans Get ‘Rowdy,’ Rip Kyle Busch For Driving In Truck Series

NASCAR Fans Get ‘Rowdy,’ Rip Kyle Busch For Driving In Truck Series

NASCAR’s National series are intended to help young, up-and-coming drivers develop their skills with hopes of one day making the jump to the highest level. It might be hard these drivers to have success, though, if one of the top racers on the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is always coming down to hog victory lane. We’re talking, of course, about Kyle Busch. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver has no wins on the Cup level this season, but has taken a checkered flag in the both Xfinity Series and, after his performance at Kansas Speedway on Friday, the Camping World Truck Series. But Busch’s victory in the Toyota Tundra 250 didn’t exactly sit

Matt Kenseth’s Car Hits Wall Hard During NASCAR Race At Phoenix Raceway

Matt Kenseth’s Car Hits Wall Hard During NASCAR Race At Phoenix Raceway

The track temperature at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday was a big test of tire management, which Matt Kenseth didn’t pass. Kenseth hit the wall on Lap 192 of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Camping World 500 after his front right tire failed in the middle of Turn 2. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver reportedly was complaining his car was tight throughout most of the race, and attempted to correct that by making a track-bar adjustment on his second pit stop. The problem likley caused too much wear on the front right, though, as it finally gave out once Kenseth put it under heavy load. Thumbnail photo via Jasen Vinlove/USA TODA... NESN.com

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Looked Ridiculous, Got Flipped Off On Recent Bike Ride

Share this: Things can get pretty nasty on the track for NASCAR drivers. And, at least for Dale Earnhardt Jr., even an average bike ride can lack cordial behavior. During a Tuesday edition of Earnhardt’s “Dale Jr. Download” podcast, the Hendrick Motorsports driver talked about a recent bike ride he went on with teammate Jimmie Johnson, during which Earnhardt was given the  finger by a passing driver. To make matters worse for Earnhardt, he had to wear an outfit that made him feeling a little self-conscious. [embedded content] Apparently, Earnhardt’s confidence in driving t he No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet in tight spaces doesn’t translate when riding a bicycle on the edge of a street. Moreover, spandex aren’t so bad, you just have to believe

If Daytona 500 Was Any Evidence, It Could Be Long NASCAR Season

Share this: After an action-packed Daytona 500, we can’t help but wondering what the heck is going on. Kurt Busch took his first 500 victory during Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race, but finishing the race at all arguably was just as impressive a feat. When Busch crossed the finish line, there were just 25 cars, and hardly any of NASCAR’s big-ticket drivers, remaining on track. Veterans such as Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matt Kenseth, Danica Patrick, Jimmie Johnson and Brad Keselowski, all of whom were running well at the time, were taken out in one of the several big wrecks. For many NASCAR fans, the Daytona 500 probably felt like déjà vu, as Saturday’s Xfinity Series race had an even higher attrition

Camry Overload: Toyota Reveals New NASCAR, Production Models At NAIAS

Toyota delivered a solid one-two punch Monday at the North American International Automotive Show in Detroit. The Japanese automaker revealed the 2018 NASCAR Camry side-by-side with its revamped production counterpart, and the two models definitely share some similarities. “The 2018 Toyota Camry NASCAR race car has been years in the making, and to unveil it simultaneously with our new production Camry is a milestone moment for our organization,” Ed Laukes, vice president of integrated marketing for Toyota Motor Sales, said in a NASCAR press release. “Our goal has been to maintain parallel design characteristics so our fans can enjoy driving a Camr...
