Steve Smith, NFL Reporter, Breaks News About Torrey Smith’s Release

Share this: Steve Smith Sr. broke NFL defenders’ spirits for 16 years. Now, he’s breaking news. The decorated wide receiver landed a job as an NFL Media analyst this offseason after announcing his retirement from football in January. But apparently Smith is more than just a talking head. On Monday, he reported the San Francisco 49ers had released veteran wideout Torrey Smith, even citing a source in his tweet. A former player breaking news of a player’s release is pretty unprecedented — especially considering the Smiths were teammates in 2014 on the Baltimore Ravens. But Steve Smith’s report was legit, according to the king of breaking news himself, ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Sure enough, Torrey Smith took to Instagram later Monday to post a long “thank

Note: This list does not include restricted free agents or players who have been franchise-tagged.  1. Dont’a Hightower, linebacker, New England PatriotsA well-rounded linebacker with a penchant for making game-changing plays, Hightower is the crown jewel of this year’s free-agent crop. 2. Alshon Jeffery, wide receiver, Chicago BearsJeffery would be the No. 1 wideout on most teams around the league, but his availability is a concern after he missed 11 games over the past two seasons (seven for injury, four for suspension). 3. Antonio Brown Is A Good Reminder Not To Obsess Over Combine Results

Share this: The Pittsburgh Steelers determined Monday that Antonio Brown is the best wide receiver in the NFL when they handed him a four-year, $68 million contract, making him the highest-paid player at his position. This is despite the fact Brown isn’t a freak athlete. That’s not a knock against Brown. I’m not a freak athlete. Neither is Tom Brady (sure, he says he would perform better at the NFL Scouting Combine now than he did 17 years ago, but it would take him another 150 years of improvement before he reaches freak levels of athleticism, and he probably won’t be very spry at the age of 189). Many quarterbacks aren’t freak athletes yet still reach an elite level of play on the field. Wide

Richard Sherman Reveals Message From Tom Brady While Posting Jersey Collection

Share this: Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has a game-worn Tom Brady jersey. And no, it’s not THAT jersey, so feel cross him off the list of suspects. Sherman posted an Instagram picture of his collection of game-worn jerseys exchanged with other NFL players, and included was a home jersey of the New England Patriots quarterback. The sleeve of an Odell Beckham, Jr. jersey obstructs Brady’s full message to Sherman, but from what we can see, it says, “RS – I’M STILL … YOU ARE THE BEST!” Brady is 1-2 in his career against the Seahawks since Sherman was drafted in 2011. Of course, that win was in Super Bowl XLIX. Brady and Sherman shook hands after that game. Sherman caused a stir after the Seahawks beat

NFL.com also reported Revis has yet to turn himself into police in a story published at 10:37 p.m. UPDATE (Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7:00 p.m.): Darrelle Revis is facing some pretty serious charges for his involvement in an incident in Pittsburgh over the weekend. Adrian Peterson Sparks Rumors With Cryptic Tweet About Giants’ Offseason

Share this: The NFL offseason is underway. While football fans won’t see any game action for several months, that doesn’t mean there won’t be a bevy of NFL news in the meantime. Between the upcoming scouting combine, NFL Draft and free agency period, fans will be sure to get their football fix. Some teams, like the New York Giants, wasted no time grabbing headlines in the early stages of the offseason with the releases of wideout Victor Cruz and running back Rashad Jennings. The transactions came as a surprise to many, including Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who shared his thoughts on the news via Twitter. Colts Release Linebacker Who Unwittingly Started Deflategate With Interception

Share this: Deflategate truly is dead. We’ve already Tom Brady served his four-game suspension. The Indianapolis Colts fired general manager Ryan Grigson. The Patriots won Super Bowl LI, and Brady had his trophy ceremonies with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. And now, the man who caught the ball that started Deflategate is no longer a member of the Indianapolis Colts. The club announced Thursday the release of veteran linebacker D’Qwell Jackson. The 33-year-old linebacker picked off a Brady pass in the AFC Championship Game two years ago and upon returning to the Indianapolis sideline, the ball’s air pressure was measured and the results reported to the NFL. And we all know what happened from there. Thumbnail photo via Stew Milne/USA TODAY Sports Images More Stories Source link
