Claude Julien: Bruins Played Flat From Start To Finish Monday Night

Monday night was one to forget for the Boston Bruins. The B’s suffered an ugly 3-0 loss on the road against the New Jersey Devils, who currently hold the third-worst record in the NHL. Head coach Claude Julien credited the Devils for playing well but acknowledged that had his team played at their “A” game, the outcome would have been much different. Bruins Must Stay Tough On Penalty Kill Vs. Sabres Team That Excels On Power Play

Share this: The Buffalo Sabres come to TD Garden with one of the best power-play percentages in the NHL. But Luckily for the Boston Bruins, they happen to be one of the best on the penalty kill themselves. The Sabres boasted a 22.3 power-play percentage — good for sixth in the league — heading into Saturday’s contest, but the Bruins were stopping teams on the man-advantage 86.6 percent of the time, which is good for second in the NHL. And as NESN’s Billy Jaffe said before the game, it’s vital for the Bruins to keep that up to avoid being victimized by Buffalo. Bruins Prospect Watch: Rob O’Gara Already Impressing In Boston’s System

Share this: Rob O’Gara’s in a unique situation. In a league where some players make their NHL debuts as teenagers, the Boston Bruins’ 2011 draft pick played four years at Yale University before making his B’s debut this season. The defenseman, who played in three games before being sent to the American Hockey League’s Providence Bruins, is a prospect B’s fans definitely should keep an eye on. Hear more about O’Gara from NESN’s Dale Arnold, Billy Jaffe and Barry Pederson in the video from “Big Bad Bruins Live” above. More Stories Source link

Canadiens’ First Regulation Loss Of Season Comes In Brutal 10-0 Defeat

Share this: If you were taken aback when you looked at the NHL box scores Friday night, you certainly weren’t alone. The Montreal Canadiens, who led the league with 19 points and had yet to lose in regulation this season heading into Friday, surrendered 10 (!) goals to the Columbus Blue Jackets in an embarrassing 10-0 loss. Scott Hartnell, Josh Anderson, Cam Atkinson and Nick Foligno all scored twice, while Seth Jones and David Savard both lit the lamp once in an offensive clinic put on by the Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena. Al Montoya got the start in net for the Canadiens. He made 30 stops, but that doesn’t really matter when you allow 10 goals.
