The Boston Celtics expected to have a three-headed monster entering the 2017-18 NBA campaign. And while the injury to Gordon Hayward altered that outlook, Thursday night showed the Celtics’ dynamic duo still is plenty lethal. Kyrie Irving and Al Horford always were going to need some time to develop chemistry, but it appears the two stars are well ahead of schedule after they combined for 51 points in the C’s 96-89 win over the Milwaukee Bucks at BMO Bradley Center. For the first time this season, Irving looked like the “Uncle Drew” from Cleveland, as he showed a variety of offensive moves, including a devastating crossover on Giannis Antetoko... NESN.com

Red Sox Notes: Sox Describe Emotions After Winning AL East Championship
It’s been a stressful past few days for the Boston Red Sox, but the ballclub finally got to exhale Saturday afternoon. While the New York Yankees made things very interesting, the Red Sox clinched their second consecutive American League East championship with a 6-3 win over the Houston Astros. Boston received a tremendous outing from Drew Pomeranz, who only allowed one run on three hits over six innings. The Sox’s bats were solid in support of Pomeranz, and the bullpen turned in a strong performance to lock down the win, capped off by Craig Kimbrel in the ninth inning. After the game, the Red Sox’s closer explained just how sweet it is to win a... NESN.com
Patriots Notes: Finding Bright Spots In New England’s Ugly Loss To Chiefs
by Zack Cox on Fri, Sep 8, 2017 at 2:38AM 1,691 FOXBORO, Mass. — Some notes and nuggets as we process exactly how the New England Patriots were beaten so badly by the Kansas City Chiefs in Thursday night’s season opener: — First, a positive: Mike Gillislee scored three touchdowns in his Patriots debut, plowing into the end zone twice from 2 yards out and once from 1 yard out. He finished with 45 yards on 15 carries in the 42-27 loss and should see plenty of work as New England’s goal-li... NESN.com
Patriots Notes: Hurricane Harvey Hit Close To Home For Several Pats Players
by Zack Cox on Mon, Aug 28, 2017 at 5:41PM 2,974 FOXBORO, Mass. — This weekend was a difficult one for the handful of New England Patriots players who hail from the Houston area. The city, which hosted Super Bowl LI in February and a Patriots-Texans preseason game just two weeks ago, has been battered by Hurricane Harvey, resulting in overwhelming, widespread flooding. “It’s crazy,” wide receiver Danny Amendola, who grew up 30 miles north of Houston in The Woodlands, Texas, said ... Red Sox Notes: John Farrell Provides Update On Mookie Betts’ Injured Knee
There wasn’t much to get excited about for the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night in the series finale against the Cleveland Indians. Chris Sale turned in his worst start of the season, as the left-hander was shelled for six runs on seven hits over just three innings of work. Sale wasn’t the only Boston pitcher who struggled, though, as Cleveland collected 18 hits in its 13-6 blowout victory. But the pitching woes weren’t the biggest cause for concern Thursday night. In the seventh inning, Mookie Betts exited the game with a right knee contusion. After the game, Red Sox manager John Farrell provided an update on Betts’ ailment. “It’s a ... NESN.com
Red Sox Notes: Andrew Benintendi’s Red-Hot August Has Him On Aaron Judge’s Tail
The American League Rookie of the Year Award seemed to be locked up at the Major League Baseball All-Star break, as New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge had set the sport ablaze during a blistering first half. But Judge has been frozen for the entire second half, while another rookie has been so hot not even the Night King himself could cool him off. Boston Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi went through a prolonged slump toward the end of the first half, but the young star has broken out of his skid in a big way in August. The 23-year-old is hitting .375 with six home runs and 16 RBIs while recording a
Red Sox Notes: Rick Porcello Didn’t Realize He Threw An Immaculate Inning
Rick Porcello tossed six strong innings in the Boston Red Sox’s 8-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, but the fifth frame undoubtedly was his best. The right-hander made extremely quick work of the Rays in the inning, as he struck out the side in order on just nine pitches to complete one of baseball’s most exciting feats, the immaculate inning. Porcello’s accomplishment wasn’t lost on anyone in Tropicana Field, except for himself. After the game, he revealed that it wasn’t until he returned to the dugout after the inning when he realized what he had done. “I didn’t know,” Porcello said, as seen on NESN’s Red Sox postgam...
