Jackie Bradley Jr. Believes Red Sox’s Offense ‘Will Get Going’ Soon

Share this: The Boston Red Sox’s offense was relatively quiet in their 4-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night at Camden Yards. The lone bright spot for the Red Sox was center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. launching his first home run of the season. Bradley became the fifth player in Red Sox history to hit a home run onto Eutaw Street in Baltimore. The center fielder believes that the offensive production will begin to pick up for the Red Sox. Patriots’ Addition Of Brandin Cooks Has One NFL Head Coach Cringing

Share this: Any offense with Tom Brady under center already is a formidable one. So what happens when you add Brandin Cooks to the New England Patriots? Well, if you’re Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio, you cringe. And, considering the offense added Cooks and Rex Burkhead, replaced Martellus Bennett with Dwayne Allen and should have a healthy Rob Gronkowski back alongside Dion Lewis, James White, Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Malcolm Mitchell and Chris Hogan for the 2017 season, that response seems like an appropriate one. “Yeah, I (did) cringe. They added a real special talent in Cooks,” Del Rio said at Tuesday’s AFC coaches breakfast at the NFL Annual Meeting, via the Boston Herald’s Karen Guregian. “He can really do some things. He can

How Will Dwayne Allen Fit In With Patriots’ Numerous Offensive Weapons?

Share this: Dwayne Allen didn’t exactly get his day in the sun after being traded to the New England Patriots. And that’s not a commentary on the dreary weather in New England so far this spring, though it would be cool if temperatures would climb above 50 at some point. Thus concludes the small talk portion of this column. Allen was traded from the Indianapolis Colts on the afternoon before the start of the new NFL league year. It was the transaction that sparked countless others, officially setting off the Patriots’ offseason, and it kind of got buried. It was apparent at the time the Patriots would not be bringing back Martellus Bennett, so finding a tight end to complement and back up their injury-prone starter Rob Gronkowski was paramount.

Pablo Sandoval, Mitch Moreland Will Be Key Parts To Red Sox’s Offense

Pablo Sandoval, Mitch Moreland Will Be Key Parts To Red Sox’s Offense

The Boston Red Sox could have a prolific offense during the 2017 season. And that offense put on a show Saturday during a 12-5 win over the Minnesota Twins. Third baseman Pablo Sandoval hit two home runs and notched four RBIs, while first baseman Mitch Moreland had a pair of doubles and also drove in four runs. Hear NESN’s Tom Caron and Steve Lyons break down the performance by Sandoval, Moreland and the rest of the Red Sox in the “NESN Sports Today” video above, presented by People’s United Bank. ... Celtics Wrap: Boston’s Defense Turns In Clunker In Wizards’ 123-108 Win

Share this: The Washington Wizards said they were attending the Boston Celtics’ funeral Tuesday, and it turns out they weren’t that far off. The Wizards, who wore all-black clothing to the Verizon Center for their latest matchup with the rival C’s, manhandled Boston’s defense in a 123-108 victory. Bradley Beal led all scorers with 31 points, and John Wall wasn’t too far behind with 27 points and seven assists. Isaiah Thomas and Al Horford led the Celtics with 25 and 22 points, respectively. With the win, Washington improved to 25-20, while Boston lost its third straight game and dropped to 26-18. Here’s how it all went down. Devin McCourty Responds To Bill Belichick’s Jab: ‘Defense Wins Championships’

by Zack Cox on Wed, Dec 28, 2016 at 2:56PM 1,467 Share this: FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick might have ruffled a few feathers in the defensive meeting room when he declared, unprompted, that defensive players typically play defense because they’re “not good enough to play offense.” Patriots safety Devin McCourty, a longtime captain of New England’s defense, was asked for his take on Belichick’s jab. “I mean, I would say he knows a lot more about football than me,” McCourty said Wednesday. “But I don’t know — I don’t know what he means ‘good enough.’ As in we can’t catch? I don’t know. (Cornerback Cyrus Jones) is pretty good with the ball in his hands. I’m pretty good. Maybe I’m

Patriots’ Defense Eyeing Uptick In Picks, Offense Looking To Curb Fumbles

by Zack Cox on Tue, Oct 25, 2016 at 5:27PM 2,744 Share this: The New England Patriots’ offense and defense both are focused on turnovers ahead of this Sunday’s rematch with the Buffalo Bills. For the offense, fumbles are a primary point of emphasis. The Patriots lost two in Sunday’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and have put the ball on the ground 14 times this season, tying their total from the entire 2015 campaign. “There’s no question that our players and our coaches are emphasizing that,” Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said Tuesday in a conference call with reporters. “We know there is no greater determinant of success than taking care of the football on offense, that’s for sure. Everybody would agree with that.
