Chris Sale’s 300th Strikeout Puts Him In Special Place In Red Sox History

Chris Sale notched his 300th strikeout of the season during the Boston Red Sox’s 9-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night. The left-handed ace became just the second Red Sox player ever to accomplish the feat, joining Pedro Martinez, who did it twice (1997 in Montreal, 1999 in Boston) in his career. Check out Sale’s reaction in the “NESN Sports Today” video above, presented by People’s United Bank. ... NESN.com

Pedro Martinez Gave Hilariously Poor Answer During ‘Family Feud’ Appearance

Share this: Pedro Martinez is one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history, which earned him a ticket to the Baseball Hall of Fame. If there was a “Family Feud” Hall of Fame, though, he’s probably not getting a call anytime soon. The Boston Red Sox legend made his “Family Feud” debut Sunday night alongside some other former big leaguers, and hilarity certainly ensued. At one point, Martinez was asked to name a word that rhymed with “yummy,” which is actually pretty hard to do. Martinez’s answer was … not great. [embedded content] In Pedro’s defense, English isn’t his first language, and the way he said Miami, it did kind of rhyme. And he wasn’t the only one who struggled with the whole “yummy” thing.

Pedro Martinez Gives High Praise To Chris Sale After First Two Starts With Red S…

Sale is raising eyebrows with a 1.23 ERA, 17 strikeouts, and only two walks after 14 2/3 innings pitched in two starts in 2017. Former Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez has even taken notice and is impressed with the Red Sox’s newest ace. Pedro see’s a lot of himself in Sale and gave him some high praise after what he’s seen so far. Pedro Martinez Drops Video Of Postseason Dominance That Will Fire Up Red Sox Fans

Have you given up on the Boston Red Sox? Pedro Martinez hasn’t. The Hall of Fame pitcher and former Red Sox starter was part of some pretty amazing postseason moments for the club that most fans probably will never forget. But with the Red Sox down 0-2 to the Cleveland Indians in their American League Division Series, Martinez made sure the Fenway Faithful had a reminder of what Boston can do. Unfortunately for the Red Sox, vintage Martinez isn’t going to be on the mound at Fenway Park on Sunday for Game 3, but this is still a competitive Boston team. Clay Buchholz will start Sunday against Indians right-hander Josh Tomlin. Thumbnail
