Bruins, Tim Schaller Nearly Score On First-Period Power Play Vs. Sabres

Share this: Almost doesn’t count, but the Boston Bruins executed a nearly perfect power play besides the fact that they didn’t score. The B’s had the man-advantage Saturday in the first period against the Buffalo Sabres, and they set up what should have been a sure scoring opportunity. With Boston in a perfect triangle, Frank Vatrano fed the puck to Austin Czarnik on the left dot, and Czarnik passed to Tim Schaller right in front of the net. Schaller was robbed, however, on a nice pad save by Sabres goaltender Robin Lehner, but the Bruins forward did score in the second period. BOSTON — The Red Sox are clicking at the perfect time. After completing a four-game sweep of the New York Yankees with a 5-4 win Sunday, the Red Sox have a stronger hold on first place in the American League East. They’re three games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles and four games ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays, and it’s greatly improved the mood in the clubhouse. “Four game series are difficult,” Red Sox manager John Farrell said after Sunday’s win. “To take all four and three of them in comeback fashion, that says so much about that team down in the clubhouse. There’s never any feeling of we’re out of it. There’s never

Wes Welker Wanted Dinner With Tom Brady, But Patriots QB Had Better Idea

Share this: It’ll be just like old times this weekend for Tom Brady and Wes Welker. Welker revealed Friday morning on a Miami radio station that he contacted Brady because he’ll be in town for Sunday’s game between the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins at Gillette Stadium. It seemed like a perfect opportunity for the two to catch up. But Brady’s definition of “catching up” involves far more than just a meal. In fact, it involves some literal “catching” as the Patriots quarterback looks to stay sharp during his four-game Deflategate suspension. “I hit him up to do dinner Saturday night. He’s like, ‘I’m going to be flying in from Ann Arbor later (after the Michigan-Colorado football game), but how about that morning
