The Boston Red Sox have looked pretty sharp most nights this season, but Saturday was not one of those nights. The Sox put on a pretty ugly showing and fell to the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1, dropping the second straight contest of the three-game set at Tropicana Field. There really were no redeeming qualities for Boston in the loss, as everything from the pitching to the offense were quite underwhelming. The Boston Bruins’ point streak was halted at 18 games Tuesday night, and much of that was due to the performance of Anaheim Ducks goaltenders John Gibson and Ryan Miller. Smithfield Calls Out Richard Petty Motorsports For ‘Years Of Subpar Performance’
It looks like Richard Petty Motorsports and its soon-to-be former sponsor Smithfield Foods aren’t wasting any time airing out their dirty laundry. Smithfield CEO Kenneth Sullivan issued a response to Richard Petty’s statement Tuesday, and he didn’t pull any punches, calling out RPM for “years of subpar performance on the track.” Earlier Tuesday, Petty said that he and his eponymous team were “extremely disappointed” — words that Sullivan echoed in his statement — with Smithfield’s decision to sign with Stewart-Haas Racing for 2018.
