Islanders Trade Travis Hamonic To Flames For Multiple NHL Draft Picks

The Calgary Flames and New York Islanders made the first major trade at the 2017 NHL Draft on Saturday. Calgary acquired top-four defenseman Travis Hamonic and a fourth-round draft pick from New York in exchange for three draft picks. Hamonic tallied 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) in 49 games for the Islanders last season. He also averaged 20:27 of ice time per game. Lower and upper body injuries derailed Hamonic’s 2016-17 campaign. He’s signed for three more years with a contract that carries a $ 3,857,143 salary cap hit. Hamonic joins a Flames blue line that includes impressive defensemen Mark Giordano and Dougie Hamilton. Celtics Draft Analysis: C’s Continue Steady Climb With Jayson Tatum Pick

Share this: BROOKLYN — The Boston Celtics have a plan. And despite the endless rumors and smokescreens, they’re sticking to it. (For now, anyway.) For the second consecutive year, the C’s entered draft night at Barclays Center with third overall pick and actually employed it, taking Duke forward Jayson Tatum at No. 3 in the 2017 NBA Draft on Thursday. Tatum was one of four total selections for president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, who, as usual, kept Celtics fans on the edge of their seats amid reports he might try to trade for Kristaps Porzingis or Jimmy Butler. Ainge went with the safe bet, though, spurning the more athletic but more volatile Josh Jackson to take a well-rounded 19-year-old who appeared mature beyond

NBA Rumors: Celtics, 76ers Agree To Trade For No. 1 Pick, Will Finalize Monday

Share this: UPDATE (11:30 p.m. ET): There has been a bit of a plot twist. Instead of getting three first-round draft picks from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, the Boston Celtics will get two, and the second will depend on protections, according to multiple reports. According to league source, Celtics will receive the No. 3 overall pick this year & a protected future first-round pick from Philly, not two — Adam Himmelsbach (@AdamHimmelsbach) June 18, 2017 Clarification on deal: Besides its 2017 FRP, Philly sends '18 Lakers pick w/ protections. If it doesn't convey, 76ers send 2019 Kings pick. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojVerticalNBA) June 18, 2017 Celtics will get Lakers pick if it falls between 2

Celtics Now Own Ridiculous Amount Of First-Round NBA Draft Picks

Share this: Danny Ainge continues to build his war chest of NBA draft picks. The Boston Celtics president of basketball operations reportedly agreed to trade the No. 1 overall selection in the 2017 NBA Draft to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for the No. 3 overall pick in the 2017 draft, and a 2018 first-round pick from the Los Angeles Lakers with protections. If the C’s do not receive the Lakers pick, then they will receive a 2019 first-round pick from the Sacramento Kings. All in all, this now leaves Ainge and the Celtics with seven first-round picks in the next three drafts. Boston owns the No. 3 pick in the 2017 draft, three first-round picks in the 2018 draft — their own and

76ers’ Joel Embiid, Dario Saric Want Markelle Fultz To ‘Trust The Process’

Share this: While the Boston Celtics and 76ers reportedly are working out a deal for Philadelphia to acquire the No. 1 overall selection in the 2017 NBA Draft, a few members of the 76ers are excited about the prospects of Washington guard Markelle Fultz becoming part of their process. Joel Embiid and Dario Saric fanned the trade rumor flames Saturday when they tweeted a photo of themselves in front of a locker with Fultz’s name on it with the caption — “Trust The Process.” Fultz, of course, is expected to be the top selection in the draft and was in Philadelphia on Saturday for a pre-draft workout. The C’s and 76ers reportedly are working on a trade that would send the No. 1 pick to Philadelphia

NBA Rumors: Kings Could Pay Big Price To Move Up To Draft De’Aaron Fox

NBA Rumors: Kings Could Pay Big Price To Move Up To Draft De’Aaron Fox

The Sacramento Kings have their eye on a certain NBA draft prospect, but they might have to move up in order to secure him. The Kings own the No. 5 and No. 10 overall picks in the 2017 NBA Draft and reportedly could be interested in packaging those two picks together to move up and take De’Aaron Fox. ESPN’s Chad Ford reported in his latest mock draft the Kings are enamored with the Kentucky point guard and might pay a steep price to ensure he comes to Sacramento. “There’s talk inside the organization about combining picks Nos. 5 and 10 to move up in the draft to secure Fox,” Ford wrote. “If they found

NBA Rumors: 2017 Draft Lottery Results Not Being Well Received Around League

Share this: The Boston Celtics won the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night, followed by the Los Angeles Lakers at No. 2 and the Philadelphia 76ers at No. 3. Three marquee franchises with a valuable draft pick to use in their quest for another championship. Whether it’s the Celtics and Lakers being at the top, or something completely different, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst shared an interest nugget on how the lottery results are being received around the league. Based on sampling of NBA execs I've been in touch with, I wouldn't say these lottery results are being well received in league. — Brian Windhorst (@WindhorstESPN) May 17, 2017 Re previous tweet, no one thinks anything nefarious with lottery. In general, league enjoys Lakers being down. —
