Share this: The 2017 NFL Draft has come and gone, and the New England Patriots added over 20 rookies to their squad. Unsurprisingly, Patriot Nation has many questions about its new players. Let’s dive into this week’s mailbag for the answers. Doug! Super-excited about the Pats draft and their off-season in general. I know the draft feedback says 1st round pick Derek Rivers is more of a DE/OLB EDGE player, but after watching video of him at the combine, looks like he moves really well. Can he possibly fill Jaime Collins old role as an inside/outside linebacker? — Steve (Boston)Steve! Thanks for the email (feel free to send questions to dkyed@nesn.com if you don’t have Twitter). I assume Rivers mostly will play defensive end

Harvey Langi Film Review: Why Patriots Made Linebacker Highest Paid UDFA
Share this: There’s a lot of film on New England Patriots undrafted free agent linebacker Harvey Langi, but sometimes it’s understandably difficult to locate him on the field. Langi played a number of different roles during his three years at BYU, where he transferred from Utah after a two-year LDS mission. Sometimes he’s playing inside linebacker wearing No. 21. Sometimes he’s playing defensive end. Sometimes he’s playing running back wearing No. 16. Sometimes he’s playing linebacker wearing No. 16. Langi’s lack of continuity with the Cougars could be one reason he went undrafted after BYU did everything they could to get him on the field. We didn’t bother watching Langi’s running back film, either at Utah or BYU, but one thing is clear: He’s more of
Celtics Notes: Al Horford Shows How Valuable He Is In Win Over Cavaliers
Share this: BOSTON — If you looked at Al Horford’s stat line at halftime Wednesday, you probably would have guessed he was on his way to a fifth straight game of scoring under 10 points. That ended up being true in the Boston Celtics’ 103-99 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers at TD Garden, but it doesn’t tell the whole story of what Horford did in arguably the C’s biggest win of the season. Not even close. Horford finished the game with nine points, but seven of those came in the second half, and he was only one point shy of a triple-double with his 10 total rebounds and 10 assists. Oh, and don’t forget his stellar defense on Tristan Thompson and the Cavaliers throughout the night. “Even at
Tom Brady Showcases Competitiveness While Playing Video Games On ‘Conan’
Tom Brady doesn’t seem like a video games kind of guy, but he certainly is a competition guy. The New England Patriots quarterback took some time away from preparing for Super Bowl LI against the Atlanta Falcons to hang out and play video games with TV host (and Massachusetts native) Conan O’Brien for the “Clueless Gamer” segment on “Conan.” It’s actually a pretty fascinating video, as the often publicly reserved Brady let down his guard. In the process, we got his fashion critique of Bill Belichick — “He doesn’t give a sh-t” — and also saw his competitive side on full display. Even taking on a late-night TV host in a video game he’... NESN.com
Former Patriots Star Kevin Faulk Has No Problem With Son Playing Football
Dual-sport star Bo Jackson made headlines recently claiming he never would have played football had he known the severity of the health risks surrounding the game. While Jackson isn’t alone in this opinion, one former player doesn’t necessarily agree. Former New England Patriots running back Kevin Faulk says he has no regrets when looking back on his career, and he also is comfortable with his son playing. While Faulk is aware of the dangers of the game, he believes teaching proper fundamentals can go a long way in preventing these issues. To hear more from Faulk, check out the video above from “NESN Sports Today,” presented by People’s United... NESN.com
Patriots Vs. Texans Notes: Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan Carry Receiving Corps
by Zack Cox on Sun, Jan 15, 2017 at 2:30AM 3,765 Share this: FOXBORO, Mass. — For the sixth time in as many seasons, the New England Patriots find themselves one win away from the Super Bowl. Saturday night’s 34-16 victory over the Houston Texans at Gillette Stadium extended the Patriots’ streak of consecutive championship game appearances to a half-dozen, breaking the previous NFL record of five set by the 1970s Oakland Raiders. Predictably, that record wasn’t at the forefront of Patriots coach Bill Belichick’s mind when he addressed the media after the game. “I mean, it’s great to be playing at this time of year,” Belichick said. “You’re one of four teams that are left after the weekend. But again, I mean, I don’t really
NBA Rumors: Injured Nerlens Noel Prefers Trade Away From 76ers
Share this: The Philadelphia 76ers have too many centers with star talent and not enough minutes for each of them to develop to their fullest potential. One of Jahlil Okafor, Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel probably will have to be traded at some point. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the odd man out could be Noel. “Nothing has changed here. Noel has yet to appear in a game this season after electing to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery last month, but word is he’d still prefer to be shipped to a new address with so many big men to battle for playing time in Philly,” Stein wrote Tuesday. “Count on the Sixers to accommodate him eventually.” Noel, who averaged 11.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game
