Bruins’ Brandon Carlo, Bruce Cassidy Praise Brad Marchand’s Offense

Bruins’ Brandon Carlo, Bruce Cassidy Praise Brad Marchand’s Offense

From his dominance on the Boston Bruins’ top line to making opponents look silly before netting a goal, Brad Marchand certainly has become one of the NHL’s elite players. His skills were particularly apparent against the San Jose Sharks in Boston’s 4-1 win Feb. 26 when Marchand absolutely undressed Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson before he backhanded the puck into the net. It was a slick move to get Karlsson’s stick out of the way so Marchand could get the puck, and his offensive skills have earned him praise from his teammates and coach. “When he knocks it out of the way, it pretty much makes it impossible for you to win that battle,”

Max Kellerman Takes Break From Tom Brady ‘Cliff’ Talk, Offers High Praise

Max Kellerman Takes Break From Tom Brady ‘Cliff’ Talk, Offers High Praise

Max Kellerman’s perception of Tom Brady is well-documented. Kellerman — for several years now, mind you — has stood on his soapbox that is ESPN’s “First Take” and declared that Brady soon will fall off a cliff in terms of skill level. Kellerman is so deep in his take that he stood by it after the 41-year-old quarterback lit it up in the New England Patriots’ divisional-round win over the Los Angeles Chargers. But while Kellerman is of the belief that Brady can’t provide enough for the Patriots to win Super Bowl LIII, that doesn’t mean he can’t respect the signal-caller’s illustrious body of work. Kellerman made that abundantly clea... NESN.com

Bruce Cassidy Offers High Praise For David Backes After Bruins’ Win

Bruce Cassidy Offers High Praise For David Backes After Bruins’ Win

The term “unsung hero” gets thrown around quite a bit in professional sports, but David Backes certainly fits the mold for the Boston Bruins. Backes isn’t going to stuff the stat sheet on a nightly basis, but he manages to make an impact for the B’s both off and on the ice. While Backes’ leadership skills are well-documented, Bruce Cassidy on Thursday provided further insight into what Backes brings to the Black and Gold. Bruins Notes: Tuukka Rask’s Struggles Prompt Praise For Jaroslov Halak

Bruins Notes: Tuukka Rask’s Struggles Prompt Praise For Jaroslov Halak

Not much went right for the Bruins on Wednesday night. The Capitals hoisted their Stanley Cup championship banner and went on to beat Boston 7-0 in the season opener for both teams. The beatdown began just 24 seconds after the puck dropped as Washington had complete control of the game from start to finish. B’s goalie Tuukka Rask was pulled midway through the second period after he allowed five goals on 19 shots, including three goals on three shots in 3:11. Head coach Bruce Cassidy mentioned he thought about pulling the goalie when the team went down 4-0, but wanted to give a chance to bounce back. “Yeah, I thought we’d respond at

Rick Porcello Offers High Praise To Red Sox’s Bats After Win Over Twins

Rick Porcello picked up his 13th win of the season Saturday at Fenway Park, but he couldn’t have done so without a little help from his friends. Despite allowing four runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings, the right-hander picked up a victory thanks in large part to the Boston Red Sox’s 14-hit barrage in their 10-4 win over the Minnesota Twins. After the game, Porcello made sure to tip his hat to his offense, which has been a consistent force all season long. David Harris’ Time With Patriots Has Been ‘Amazing’ Despite Reduced Role

David Harris’ Time With Patriots Has Been ‘Amazing’ Despite Reduced Role

FOXBORO, Mass. — Former New York Jets linebacker David Harris has played just seven defensive snaps with the New England Patriots this season, leading many to understandably wonder why he’s still on the team. Harris doesn’t have a role on special teams and has been a healthy scratch once and didn’t find his way onto the field in another game despite being active. Everyone within the Patriots has high praise for Harris, however, and that starts with head coach Bill Belichick. “David’s done everything we’ve asked him to do, works hard, smart player, great kid,” Belichick said on a conference call with the New York media Wednesday.
