Report: Tom Brady To Play Vs. Panthers; Unknown Which Patriots QB Will Start

Share this: The New England Patriots officially have the lamest, most minor quarterback controversy in history. Tom Brady will play in the Patriots’ third preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, CSNNE.com’s Tom E. Curran reported Thursday, but it’s unknown if Brady or Jimmy Garoppolo will start Friday’s game. It’s also unclear how long and for how many series Brady will play. Brady missed the Patriots’ first two preseason games to attend memorial services for a family member and because he suffered a cut on his thumb. Garoppolo started both of those games. Brady traveled to Carolina with the rest of his teammates Thursday, and he was clamoring to play this week during a news conference. It’s likely Garoppolo will receive more snaps than Brady, and

Patriots Roster Breakdown: Who’s A Lock, On The Bubble Nearing Cutdowns

Share this: The New England Patriots made roster projections a lot easier this week. They released seven players, bringing their 90-man roster down to 83 and opened up potential spots because of injuries to Dion Lewis and Sebastian Vollmer. With the 75-man cutdown less than a week away and the 53-man deadline in just nine days, let’s categorize who’s a lock, an odd-on favorite for a roster spot and on the bubble. And just a quick note: I don’t use locks loosely. QUARTERBACKLocks: Tom Brady, Jimmy Garoppolo, Jacoby Brissett Odds-on: None On the bubble: None— The Patriots never brought in a fourth quarterback, so there’s no one to release at this point. It will be interesting to see if the Patriots sign a quarterback cut over the next two

Resetting Patriots’ Offensive Line With Shaq Mason, Sebastian Vollmer Sidelined

That unit now more than likely will begin the regular season without two of its five projected starters. The Boston Globe’s Jim McBride on Sunday shared some unfortunate news regarding guard Shaq Mason and tackle Sebastian Vollmer, reporting Mason is dealing with a broken hand and Vollmer likely is headed to injured reserve as he nurses an undisclosed ailment. CSNNE.com’s Tom E. Curran later reported a nagging hip injury that could sideline Vollmer for the entire season, and NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport also chimed in with a report that the 32-year-old had undergone

Report: Tom Brady Missed Patriots-Bears Game After Scissors Accident

by Zack Cox on Thu, Aug 18, 2016 at 8:42PM 1,539 Share this: Tom Brady surprisingly was held out of Thursday’s preseason game between the New England Patriots and the Chicago Bears. We now know why. Brady did not play against the Bears because he “sliced his right thumb with a pair of scissors” before the game, CSNNE.com’s Tom E. Curran reported. “Apparently, Brady was trying to pry something from the bottom of his cleat prior to taking the field and sustained the cut,” Curran wrote. “It’s not known whether the cut required stitches or how long the wound will put him on the sidelines.” It was widely reported that Brady, who missed New England’s preseason opener last week, would start under center Thursday night, with

Martellus Bennett Among Top Performers From Patriots-Saints Preseason Game

Patriots-Saints Notes: Defense’s Big-Play Ability On Full Display In Preseason O…

by Zack Cox on Fri, Aug 12, 2016 at 12:57AM 3,800 Share this: FOXBORO, Mass. — Those not yet sold on the formidablity of the New England Patriots’ defense need only to look at the film from Thursday night’s preseason opener. The Patriots’ D terrorized the visiting New Orleans Saints from the opening kickoff, forcing four turnovers and producing a pair of defensive touchdowns in a 34-22 win at Gillette Stadium. “Any time the defense can score, it’s a real game-changer,” defensive end Chris Long said after the game. “For the entire team, it’s a little bit of a lift. Ball disruption, creating turnovers — that’s always an emphasis for everybody, and any time you can do that, it’s a good thing.” Defensive end Jabaal Sheard set
