FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots’ once-crowded backfield is looking pretty roomy these days. Tyler Gaffney was added to injured reserve Thursday, and Brandon Bolden, Travaris Cadet, LeGarrette Blount and Dion Lewis sat out of the Patriots’ preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers with injuries. Zdeno Chara Not Making Trip to Ottawa for Bruins’ Preseason Opener
After playing against their teammates Tuesday night in Providence, the Bruins will get to take on players from another organization on Wednesday when they open their preseason schedule with an exhibition game against the Senators. The final lineup is not set as they'll need to scratch two players from the traveling contingent with one extra forward and one extra defenseman coming along as insurance. Captain Zdeno Chara, who is still nursing a contusion on his left leg after being hit with a shot in practice on Monday, will not be making the trip to face his former team. He remains day to day and will get some extra rest to heal

ASU had two players selected. Linebacker Tony Bachman was named second team and offensive lineman Matt Ruff was named honorable mention. In all, the SoCon had 16 players selected to the team. Linebacker Kadarron Anderson of Furman and offensive guard Rodney Austin of Elon joined Breitenstein on the first team; wide receiver Aaron
