Marcus Smart can’t help the Boston Celtics on the court right now, but he’s doing his best to remain accountable off it. The Celtics guard, who’s been sidelined since Jan. 24 after injuring his hand in a losing battle with a picture frame, took part of the blame for Boston’s recent rough patch in his second public comments since the incident. “I’ve been on myself pretty bad,” Smart told The Boston Herald’s Steve Bulpett on Wednesday night, “especially when I have to just sit back there and watch those guys struggle, and there’s nothing I can do. But we’ve got the break coming up. We’ve got to come back and be ready.”

49ers’ Carlos Hyde Convinced San Francisco Will Win Super Bowl Next Season
San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde will be a free agent after this season, but he doesn’t want to go anywhere. That’s because the Niners — who are 5-10 heading into the final week of the regular season — are going to win the Super Bowl next season. At least that’s what he thinks. Following San Francisco’s 44-33 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, its fourth win in a row, Hyde was understandably feeling pretty good. So he decided to let the media know that not only are they playing well, but also that they will hoist the Lombardi Trophy come February 2019. While it’s certainly a bold take, it’s not totally
Dolphins’ Ndamukong Suh Claims Patriots’ Offense Is ‘Pretty Simple’ To Stop
Brace yourselves, New England Patriots fans. You might not enjoy reading this. The Miami Dolphins stifled the Patriots’ seemingly unstoppable offense Monday night at Hard Rock Stadium, holding Tom Brady and Co. to just 248 net yards in a 27-20 victory. New England was a horrific 0-for-11 on third down conversions, as Miami intercepted Brady twice and appeared to have an answer for every Patriots offensive strategy. In fact, “appeared” might not be a strong enough word. After the game, Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh insisted his defense had New England pretty much figured out on offense. “They do a great job and they run the same offen... NESN.com
Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell’s Bench Press Celebration Is Pretty Awesome
NFL players’ creativity in coming up with cool celebrations after touchdowns has been quite impressive this season. Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell took that creativity to new heights Sunday night after scoring a second-quarter touchdown against the Detroit Lions. Bell, with the assistance of Steelers teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster, re-created a scene from a workout as he pretended to bench press the football in the end zone. Bell averaged 126 rushing yards with a total of three rushing touchdowns in his last four games entering Week 8. He’s starting to hit his stride after missing the preseason because of his contract situation. < ... NESN.com

Conor McGregor, Drake Meet Up In Toronto Before Pre-Fight Presser
Share this: In case you hadn’t heard, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are having a little boxing match. The fight between the UFC lightweight champion and the undefeated boxer is expected to rake in hundreds of millions of dollars, which means the two are doing a huge press tour ahead of the Aug. 26 showdown. And on the Toronto leg of their tour Thursday, McGregor met up with and showed some real love to a rather famous Toronto native. Based on that exchange, it seems Drake and McGregor are pretty good friends. Maybe he’ll get a discount on the extremely pricey ringside seats. Pedro Martinez Gave Hilariously Poor Answer During ‘Family Feud’ Appearance
Share this: Pedro Martinez is one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history, which earned him a ticket to the Baseball Hall of Fame. If there was a “Family Feud” Hall of Fame, though, he’s probably not getting a call anytime soon. The Boston Red Sox legend made his “Family Feud” debut Sunday night alongside some other former big leaguers, and hilarity certainly ensued. At one point, Martinez was asked to name a word that rhymed with “yummy,” which is actually pretty hard to do. Martinez’s answer was … not great. [embedded content] In Pedro’s defense, English isn’t his first language, and the way he said Miami, it did kind of rhyme. And he wasn’t the only one who struggled with the whole “yummy” thing.
