Share this: The Boston Red Sox still have the top-ranked prospect in baseball after trading Yoan Moncada to acquire star left-hander Chris Sale in December. According to MLB.com, Red Sox starting left fielder Andrew Benintendi now is the top prospect in baseball, earning the No. 1 spot on its Top 100 prospects list, with Moncada coming in second. Benintendi still has rookie eligibility, as he spent only 34 days in the big leagues and didn’t exceed 130 at-bats in 2016. The future looks bright for the Boston Red Sox. Even after trading a heap of prospects to the San Diego Padres for Craig Kimbrel over the winter, Boston entered the season with one of baseball’s best farm systems. The club’s top prospects have lived up to their potential through the first half of 2016, and they’re well represented in Baseball America’s midseason list of top 100 prospects. All told, four Red Sox prospects made the list, including four in the top 41 and three in the top 15. Oh, and a Sox prospect landed on the top spot with Yoan Moncada checking in at No. 1. Reports: Justin Upton Traded To Padres; Braves Acquiring Prospects

The San Diego Padres are stocking up on outfielders. The Padres have agreed to a trade with the Atlanta Braves for outfielder Justin Upton, according to multiple reports. San Diego already acquired outfielders Matt Kemp and Wil Myers this week before landing Upton.
